Rudis chams, male or female?

Here are a couple of pictures to show the difference between male and female. As you can see in the male pictures the dorsal spikes extend onto the tail and are very pronounced. Female also has a crest extending onto the tail but it is not nearly as pronounced.

Thank you both for the informative pictures; they are helpful to both Cait0420 as well as other people reading this thread. Carl I'm willing to bet your female is gravid.

Cait0420; I still can't decide about your specimens but if I had to hazard a guess they would be both males. I say that because their tail base is subtly thicker but more so the more prominent and longer dorsal spine. As they get older the sexes will definitely become more apparent.

If I could see these guys in person I could sex them no problem for you but it's hard to say from the photos. Because the tail base looks so similar I'm inclined to think you have two of the same sex and I'm leaning towards male for both.

I just met with a reptile rescue guy who took a zoology class and he says he's pretty sure one is female, but they're still young so if I can't tell the difference for the next month he said he'll check them again

My (supposed) female looks like a mini version of your female without the bright green
