I have a rudis, I been having her outside in my laundry room/shed in the back of my house.I live in los angeles, and right now its about 80-85 degrees every day and possibly 88 degrees in my laundry room. I have been told that rudis need cool temps and that 80 is too hot.I was also told that a rudis wont survive in humidity lower than 80%, Just to add to that the humidity sometimes even falls to 60 flat in the cage, But i do make sure i mist the heck out the cage with the water hose at least 4-5 times a day.It seems impossible to keep her the way i was told to keep her.Is it that my temp and humidity gauges are not working properly? Cause im surprised how long this little girl has been hanging in there. She looks just fine too!, What a trip!

Yes it is true that Rudis' should be kept in temps lower than 80. If you are keeping her alive then that's great but maybe you should try to get it a little cooler somehow. Can you hook some type of fan up to cool the room off more? Also, Cali is good b/c it does have more humidity and as long as you mist her as much as you can then that should be good. Just try to keep the humidity up high as well...even get a little humidifier next to the cage...that's what we do for some of ours. Good luck! :)
