Rope for climbing

U should be able to use rope, just make sure the rope is clean and that his claws dont get caught up in the rope

I think sticks would be better because rope will swing and sag under their weight unless it is tightly secured and they probably won't like that. But it can work.

I wrap my sticks with nylon rope for the "problem climbers" in my bearded dragon cage. Havent had a mold problem in 4 years nor missing nails.

I was thinking of stapling it tight!!! I'm using bamboo at the minit but it gets on my nerves lol

my cham loves climbing on the rope i use to suspend his lights from the ceiling, but they are just vertical. i would think u would need to stabilize rope somehow to use it horizontally.

if u find a way to stabilize horizontal ropes would u post pics?

I would be concerned with the constant water from misting rotting the rope. I use wooden bird ladders in 2 of my cages and my panthers love them. I bought them for $3 each at Petco and they have hooks at the one end, so I hook them onto a bendy branch and let the ladder hang down - Kosby is constantly climbing on his, and Keeley likes to stretch out on hers to bask. They've been in there, enduring 30 minutes of misting a day for about 6 months and still look brand new.

I made climbing vines out of steel wire and twine. Shouldn't be more than $5 for roll of each, makes as many as you'll need. I double the wire for stability.

Cut two lengths of wire( a little bit longer than the desired length of the branch), take a pair of pliers, line up the wires, and then start twisting them together. You don't have to do it very tightly, as the tighter you twist them, the more length you lose.

Once finished, take the twine, and secure it to one end of the twisted wire. While keeping tension one the twine, start to wrap it around the wire, pretty much coiling it like a slinky.

Wrap the whole length of wire, and secure it to the far end of the wire. If you prefer, you can go back down the wire again, to do a second layer of twine for thicker vines. My guy is still on the smaller side, so one layer was good for me.

This is true. I had ropes strung up before my vines, and he swung and swayed violently whenever attempting to climb on them. He never used them, unless I spooked him, and they made an already stressful situation worse!

Tied them to the roof of the cage, and he'll use them every once in a while. Still swings, but gravity helps stabilize in this case
