RODI water system

No more filling buckets,waiting for chlorine to dissipate and then carrying to fill my reservoir. It's all AUTOMATIC now!!!!! I love it :<)

I will have my new rack done soon and have re done my entire Cham room!!! I will post final product next week. Will have 52 cages total including the Neonate racks!!!
Now it's time to get to work breeding!!!!!

That must be one heck of a water bill. I had a small RO system when I had a saltwater fish tank, its like 3 gallons waste water to 1 gallon RO. It was so great to have though! I felt so guilty watching water go down the drain. I live in an apartment so I couldn't even use it to water a garden or a lawn.

I was also concerned about the high amount of waste water so I have another membrane coming that reduces waste water by 80%. If I use 30 gallons per day (and I won't use that much) I will only waste about 18 to 20 gallons per day based on 30 gallons per day use. My system has two automatic shut off features so it does not run after my reservoir is full. It is worth that to me to provide my chams with fantastic water and also it reduces my work load and gives me more freedom to go out of town etc. Now I don't have to worry about my chams while I am gone. I use a good feeder cup so I can even put enough food in them to keep my chams fed for a week if needed.All my lighting,misting and drip systems are completely automated so my life as a Cham keeper just got a little easier!!!!
If I could just figure out how to get the cages cleaned automatically I would be in HI COTTON as they say in the south!!!

I'm envious of your rack that you're building/have built. It looks nice! As far as the automatic cleaning goes... I'm sure you could hire a chameleon baby-sitter slave off of Craigslist or something.

Now that is a good one!!! No one would last more then the first day I'm very,very picky about who and how I keep my chams :<)
Thank You for the nice comment!!! It has been a lot of work and a considerable amount of expense,but when it is 100 % complete it will be as good of an environment as I can realistically create. I have been practicing moving it outside (only because it's easier to work on outside ) and can move it outside into the sun light in less then 5 minutes. It takes about the same amount of time to bring it back inside. Included in the 5 minutes is dis connection and re connecting the misting,drip system and lighting while it is outside so even if it's not a super sunny day it will still be good for my chams to get that extra natural outside sun time. I must admit I'm very excited to have this system. I'll post a few more teaser Picts of its progression and then next week post it at 100% completion.

The double bins/tubs you see are my baby Cham/neonate rack and not part of the bug raising. The neonate rack does have the bottom of the inside tub cut out and is fully screened. I put Flex Watt heat tape on the shelf,the outer tub has 1/2 inch of water in it and is heated slightly to produce heat and humidity. I raised my Jacksoni baby's in it and it worked perfectly. It also has automated UV lights,basking lights and a Mist King system on it. I did a thread on it sometime back if you are interested.
