Took my chameleon to my sisters house while I was working in Catalina for 2 days. Get a call this morning when I'm on my way to pick her up to say that she was taken to the vet and the vet off'd her. My chameleon was recovering from MBD when i took her to my sisters house and my sister wouldnt tell me the name of the vet. So something seems fishy. So I'm pretty upset with the whole ordeal.

WHAT!? Vets dont just "off" chams, especially without consenting with the OWNER and I cant imagine that you sis would okay that. I would call teh vets office and file a complaint or a lwsuit or something. Thats terrible and Im sorry!

I'm still trying to work out the exact details from my sister but she wont talk about it. The chameleon was 4 months old or so and the previous owners didnt feed her at all while she was growing up so she was in terrible shape when i got her. She had a bad grip and wouldnt move at all. I have an empty cage now =/

But you said she was "recovering" so that makes me believe she was getting better with the possibility of making it out.. Thats just odd. You sister needs to talk, that was YOUR pet that she was responsible for!

At 4 months old she could have only been at the beginning of her recovery, and I am thinking she could not have been all that bad. Did your sister not agree with you on the condition of the cham? Did you and your sister have discussions about this?

I would be livid if that happened to me and I would force the truth out of her...

I asked her and she admitted that she dropped the chameleon when trying to give her the calcium shots and took it to the vet and the vet said "he'll watch over it for the night" to make sure nothings broken. Found out the vet is the same vet that told me my dogs foot was broken, and it turned out to be peices of glass embedded in its foot (dog was a stray and had to take to the vet for his shots). So there you have it. Still no name of the vet she took him to.

If its the same vet that YOU took a dog too then why don't you know the name (u just can't remember? or ????? I'm really sorry ur sister wasn't more responsible or honest, I would call every vet within 30 miles, I'm sure not too many vets off'd a cham in the last couple of days!!

well when i took my dog there it was run by a different doctor, just same facility called and its in Downey, CA and the vets name is Dr Gerry.

dr.gerry the one who seen ur dog or off'd cham? I would call on Tues. (They may be closed on mon for MLK holiday) and get the scoop!!

Yea Im confused. so Your sis dropped the cham or the vet did? Either way, someone is responsible and I wouldnt settle for anything but the truth. If the vet put your pet to sleep without consulting you first, I would be filing some legal work.

I absolutely agree that if you didnt give permission for that to file paperwork! I am pissed for you! I would probably beat my sisters a$$!

My sister said my mother, who i dont talk to anymore told the vet that it was ok for him to do what was necessary. So I'm over the whole ordeal and not talking to neither my mother nor my sister for the whole incident. Rather than call me when it happened they took matters into their own hands. Getting a new Cham hopefully tomorrow and not letting anyone else take care of it but myself. Problem solved.

Your mom still wasn't the rightful owner. I'd definatley try to shut him down.... Or if you're still willing to return to the same doctor, possibly get free vet visits to keep you hush hush. There's a lot you can get from a buisness if you make it clear that your new life goal is to ruin their reputation. You're in more than a sucky situation, and I wish you the best. Without getting into detail for the sake of being nosy, and considering your existing relationship with your mom; do you think she "had it in for you"? Sorry to hear.
