reptaid??

YUP :)

but not on chams, for my two little leopard torts.

I can say it seriously helped them to get over it, though they started it after both receiving baytril shots.

Cham wise I gave it to mine when they were acting kinda funky coming out of winter. Reptaid gave them a big pickup and both shed within days, and starting roaming the cages as usual.

Just make sure you dose it properly and shake the bottle well before administering, and it should work fine :)

Ive used reptaid on a handful of WC chams. It works wonders! Ive never used it for any respirtory infections, but I would think if the cham was in early stages of the infection and you are providing proper heat and some natural light, you may be able to kick it. Baytril would be my first choice with any respirtory problems. Goodluck!

how do you guys get the cham to take the dose?.Cause with my cham it seems impossible!, hell fight till the death with me.

My bugs never die after I inject them. On the off chance my chams won't eat them, sometimes I put them in a container off to the side and they are still alive days later.

I guess my chams will never pass up the opportunity to get a super. They only get the once or twice a week and then only one, so they are pretty quuick to snatch them up. I have even been squirted with reptaid when they bite down on one. I always choose a big worm so theres more room for the medicine.

Thanks everyone. I don't have a problem getting it in, I'm just wondering how well it works. This is the first time I've used it. I'm suspecting a possible respiratory issue with my new WC Meller. This comes as no surprise, since it's wild caught. I'm keeping a close eye. I've increased humidity, not too much though, and increased the hand misting since I never see her in the rain chamber. I'm still giving pedialyte also. The signs are very subtle, but I don't like it. I don't want to jump on an antibiotic and add more stress and pound what she has left for normal flora etc if it isn't necessary. If I don't see improvement or it gets any worse, I'll be making a phone call to my vet. I'm hoping that it's just from being overwhelmed, dehydrated, immune system run down etc and that I can get her to bounce back without the antibiotic. We'll see. Thanks for all of the input. I'll keep you updated.....

Remember to keep the heat up a bit, it will really help to kick it. Also if it warm enough, let the sun work its magic. It helps bring life back into WC chams.

What signs are you seeing that could be an RI?

She doesn't puff up per se, but takes a few bigger breaths now and then and tilts her head up. I caught her sleeping with her head up last night. No gaping or obvious trouble breathing yet, and no noisy respirations, but the potential is there.....I haven't ruled out parasite involvement either. The fecal was clean, but depending on if and when she received panacur along her journey and the cycle of the parasites, it could have been in a lull. I'll be taking another sample in next week. A few parasites migrate to the lungs as part of the life cycle, so this is also a possibility especially if the symptoms are not drastic. I know the reptaid should help with that too.

Didn't you say she/he had a swollen left leg before? Was she put on antibiotics for it?

The head raising, breathing you are describing can be for other reasons than respiratory infections.

Yes she did have a swollen leg on arrival, we did x-ray it and it was not broken. The swelling is almost gone and she uses it now, where she was dangling it and not using it much before. She was not put on antibiotics. We felt it was more due to an injury.

Please share other ideas/information for this!!

We use Reptaid for ALL chameleons or geckos that come into our shop. Especially wild caught animals. They all come over with something and we treat them all.
As for a respiratory infection, Reptaid is absolutely the best product available for treating a URI. We have not used Baytril or any other drug antibiotic in over 2 years. Reptaid can help knock out a URI, even a serious one in 3-4 days without the harmful side effects of Baytril. And Reptaid does not kill the natural gut flora like drugs so you don't need a probiotic with it.
Please do not hesitate to treat your WC meller with reptaid. I understand the stress but you can easily inject a dubia or a large cricket with it (in the soft belly) and then feed the bug to the meller with feeding tongs.
If you have more questions you can call me anytime. :)

Hi gesang, correct me if Im wrong but do you manufacture the reptaid? Thats what I must of heard along the way. Im hearing really good things about the product and would like to contact the manufacturer, as I would maybe like to import some of it to S.A. Maybe I could use the stuff on pumilums and they could actualy survive.
