Red thing poking out of panthers bum

When my panther chameleon goes to the toilet he has this red thing that pokes out of his bum, it hangs out about 2cm. Im getting abit worried now and wondered if anybody has any advice on what it could be. Its only been happening for a week or two and happens only once a day. Thanks in advance

im not a vet or a professional at this but I think others on this forum might call that a "prolapsed" rectum, which should NOT be outside at all, ever. might want to get him to your local vet.

Yes that is his privates and as long as it goes back in you are ok. Mine does it every so often too and I am always in a panic it won't go back in. When it stays out, it is called a prolapse. If that should occur, you have to make sure and keep it moist so it will not dry out!!. I would get some ky jelly and keep it on hand for emergency. Once you have done that, it will be a trip to the vet to have it put back in.

Should it remain out, call the vet, then keep it covered in very cold water with about 25% sugar in the water. That will help reduce the swelling so the vet can get it back inside easier.

Thanks for the advice. It does go back in after 30 seconds or so. So hopefully all will be ok
