in this post https://www.chameleonforums.com/thalamus-hates-me-32824/ i was discussing how i'm trying to get my female veiled accustomed to cham-showers so she can benefit from them but she gets nervous around me and starts freaking out. so today i tried again and peeked through the crack in the door to make sure shes ok (she ended up noticing me!) she seemed to be doing great, she didnt end up drinking but she was moving around doing her chameleon dance and she had a happy color.
then all hell broke loose when i try to take her off her tree. she ended up literally jumping off the towel i had her on, thankfully onto a soft shower rug, and made a mad dash for the cabinet. theres an empty space underneath the cabinet that she was trying to climb up and into, and if she did it would have been impossible to get her out. i tried my hardest to get a firm grip to prevent her from doing so and half her body was already in the space. she turned black from stress and her eyes sunk in and it was a struggle to pull her out without hurting her. shes such a strong cookie! she pulled out a huge chunk of dust along with her. when i would try to restrain her to bring her back to her cage, she would just fall out of my hands and run and i noticed it looked like her shoulder was broken and she was limping. of course i was so upset and panicking but she finally calmed down and i put her back in her cage.
she was moving her arm just fine, hopefully just sprained it with all the struggle. she was hiding so i gave her LOTS of space and tried not to look at her. but she eventually came out and climbed around and her arm seems fine. she has a good grip and she had no trouble lifting herself up with that arm between branches. after a while i offered her some food and she took it without hesitation. tomorrow ill give her a good look and she if theres any strange movements with her arm. scared me half to death as im sure it would to any cham owner! if she would have climbed into that space under the cabinet i wouldnt know what id do, im just so glad she didnt.
