Question about supplementation/set up

Ohh lol cool!

Lol I wish it was that way, he can't save money to safe his life though lol. He is getting better though, since he has been with me. :)

That's cool! I'm in Abnormal Psych right now, but my teacher is a crackpot lol. And there is this creepy girl that sits next to me, and I would enjoy hitting her lol.

My Phleb Certificate should be done by next fall, and hopefully I will have my associates by 2016 (so far away :() lol

Thankfully, mine can. we have our account set up that it auto transfers money into our savings from out checking every paycheck, this way, we have to save money, but i dont have to make a trip to the bank to do it.

I loved abnormal psych, one of my fav topics.
(the running joke within the psych world is that you have to be crazy to get accepted into a psych program) lol.

that sounds so awesome! i couldnt do blood stuff, it creeps me out.
school takes forever..
lets see-
i graduated high school in 2004, started a community college in the summer of 2006, transferred to a Uni in 2008, graduated from there in may 2011, now im doing my masters, i finish that in may 2014.... then a doctorate, 4 more years after that.

(so im an overachiever. lol) shhh!

Have you taken careful measurements of his basking temps?

It's possible that he is too cold and thats why he wants to get warmed up on you :D

Lucky! When we get married I am going to have to be in charge of money. I pretty much am now, but he doesnt understand how much money stresses me out lol. I have been trying to get Direct deposit set up from work, but let's face it, McD's is retarded lol. That's funny :p

Surprisingly, I don't get freaked out by blood, unless it's mine or any family members lol. School takes way longer than I want it to lol

I graduated in 2011 and started Ivy Tech in the fall, was going to apply for RN, but I got a B in A&P (which is good considering my teacher didn't speak English lol) so I retook it to get my A, now I have to wait till spring to take the TEAS and apply. I'm stressing cuz I don't have all A's lol I'm 3 points away from a 4.0, and it is driving me insane haha.

So are you going to be a psychiatrist then??

Yep, I even have the lazer button thing that measures his body temp.
He was 80 this morning, with his basking at 82 and lowest temp at 75.

I think he's just being a brat :rolleyes:lol. Because as soon as I walk in the room he heads for the door. I think I'm going to move his cage over to the window and see what that does.

Psychologist.
No meds.
While I believe in taking meds if you need them, especially if you have a severe mental disorder, I would much rather do cognitive-behavioral therapy.

interesting fact- psychiatrists dont actually do therapy, they prescribe medication then refer the client to a psychologist or a therapist.

The psychiatrists dont have as much background and training in talk therapy as psychologists do because the psychiatrist spends their time in hospital settings, learning about medications and stuff ( sort of like doctors do).

side note- your baskng temp is too low, bet thats why hes darker. lol. get it up to 85.

Oh cool.
Yeah I feel the same way. Cognitive behavioral is much more helpful IMO. Oh that's interesting. I thought they did both.
I would hate to have to just sit and memorize stuff and not be able to work with people. It's kind of my thing lol.

Same with me, which is why i dont want to do just drugs. though in some states, psychologists are able to prescribe medication now.

most states though, you have to see a doctor or a psychiatrist for that.
and yes, your general care phsycian can prescribe medications for mental health disorders, though most require a diagnosis or some sort.

I didn't know that, lol.
I would really hate to have to prescribe anything, especially narcotics, cuz nowadays it's kinda hard to tell fakers from the real deal. I was a t the ER last night with my grandma, and she's had a lot of falls and breaks, etc. But even with her, it's hard to tell when she is seriously hurt, because every little thing she's like "Owww". Part of that is she's old and wants to be taken care of, but I can already see where I am going to have frustrations as a nurse..lol

Which is why, getting training in addictions is very helpful.

some people, need narcotics regularly to manage pain, others abuse it, others still truely believe they need it to manage pain, but dont really.

depending on what you do, the DSM-IV-R is a great book to have.

Yeah.
We learned about the DSM a few weeks ago, even did a project with it. It is useful, they are coming out with another version of it this year or next.

That's what I thought. It's enough of a change that they are changing the Pysch books at my school though.

yea they change textbooks all the time- usually the only thing that changes is that they switch chapters around and change the picture. which annoys me.
