question about carpets

Hey I have been trying to find out if it is a male or female carpet that displays those bright colors on black, I think it is the female but I want to be sure.

I dont have carpets but im pretty sure gravid females display those colors.

Female carpets are much more exciting than male carpets. All are lovely though.

To piggy-back on this question, I have a follow-up: do the females only turn those beautiful colors when they have fertilized eggs, or do they turn colors even with unfertilized eggs?

Fertile or infertile doesn't play any role in coloration displayed. If they are gravid they display the gorgeous colors
