Python Banning Bill is back!

The House Judiciary Committee on July 29 amended and passed HR 2811, a bill that would add Burmese pythons and African rock pythons to the Lacey Act as injurious species.

The bill, which would have added all pythons as originally written, now moves to the full House, which is not expected to act on it until September at the earliest, after its August recess......

I am a bit confused about how it affects pet owners. I have two ball pythons and they are the sweeter than the cursed chameleons I own.

Does this bill require pet owners to surrender their pythons? If so then good luck finding mine!

As I was aware, it would only affect the larger snakes such as you mentioned, the Burmese and African Rock Pythons... unless this has now managed to change?

Technically it would be impossible to find all of the snakes even in such a small range of species. So even if the bill is passed and bans importing them how would they know of every person already owning one and dealing with them breeding them?

You didnt know that they implant these microchips in every single snake on U.S. soil?
