hi! so, i have had reptiles before, but never reptile eggs and i THINK my pygmy chameleon laid an egg today. i think i have a male and female in my tank. i looked in my tank today and i saw one egg.. i took it out and put it in a tupperware with moist vermiculite. the tupperware is ventilated and at room temp (around 70-75 degrees) am i missing anything? is this a picture of an egg or am i just crazy? is it normal for it to be kind of pinkish? or.. redish and transparent with kind of a hard shell with tiny ridges? (from what i could see i didnt squeeze the egg or anything)
please help. thanks!!!

Pinkish is usually fertile...looks fertile to me!
And they don't take nearly as long as some chameleons to hatch!
When you say ventilated...you don't mean without a lid or with more than just a couple of tiny holes in a solid lid, do you??
What temperature are you keeping it at?

yay! im glad its fertile. it is in a tupperware with a few holes on top and the holes have a mesh-like fabric over them to prevent contamination. is that ok???
and the temp is my room temp which is 75 degrees f.
i hope this is all ok!!
thanks for all of your help!
am i right to assume it will hopefully hatch in about a month an a half?
and how often do females lay eggs anyway?

Hi there, depending on what species of pygmys they are I would say nearer 3 months thats if they are Brevs (Bearded pygmys) Mine have always taken this long. Congrats is there def only one egg? Heatherxxx

i looked everywhere (carefully) and only saw one egg. i dont know how much digging the females do to hide the eggs but i did not go too crazy moving things around. if there was another egg i didnt want to squish it.
seems weird though because all the info i have read says they lay 2 to 4... hmm.. maybe its her first time? i know with cats there first litter is a small one. usually.
if it hatches i will post pics! :)
