why does my chamelon make himself look fat?? i went into my room today and i noticed that he was making him self look really fat, he puffed out his chin and his body, why does he do this?

He's trying to convince you that he's bigger and more dangerous than he actually is. It is a defensive posture.

sometimes you will see them turn a really dark color and do this while basking to create more surface area to absorb more heat as well...not just a defense mechanism

exactly what Carlton said, it is a defensive posture. it is best to leave the cham be right away, or just be still and move very slowly to reduce stress or freight.

if a chameleon gets scared, it can run away very quickly through the branches, or just run into nothing fall and really hurt itself.
