Prolapse please help!!

Sooooo I was checking his sutures and it looks like there is a tiny area that is trying to prolapse again. Called the vet and they wanted me to come in again to adjust the sutures. I’m not sure if I could try the sugar water since he has sutures?

Get him back into the vet... Get a bottle of ky jelly without any additives water based only. You want to keep that on hand anything that comes out like that should have it put on to keep it moist. You see this most commonly when chams that are having a hard time passing fecal. Increasing moist insects and opportunities to drink is very important.

Saw the vet yesterday. They said it looks ok and at one point it had gone all the way back in. They said he is probably pushing a bit because it feels weird. He pooped out a half digested horn worm this morning (he ate two yesterday with his laxative meds.)I tried to give him a horn worm and a silk worm to get his medicine in him but he wasn’t having it. Gonna have to open that little mouth on my own 🤦🏻‍♀️

If absolutely needing to open her mouth, be very gentle and hold her casque with one hand and I gently (gentle is the big theme of it all) place a finger on each side of her jaw joint with a light pressure. If that fails to work, I’ve used a guitar pick to open a stubborn little mouth or even something like a credit card would work as long as the edges aren’t sharp.

@MissSkittles gave some really good advice on how to open a chams mouth here. Although your little guy doesn't have a casque I'd imagine it's somewhat the same.

That's great to hear it wasn't a full on emergency and he's slowly getting better.

I just gently moved the syringe under his lip and he opened a little so he got both meds 👍🏻. I’m glad the syringe has a rounded tip. He didn’t even mind… such a good boy.
Just checking that you are aiming at the very back of his mouth right? Their airway is in the front of the mouth under the tongue so you want to avoid that completely or they can aspirate the meds.

It’s a very small amount and a gel consistency. I just move his lip down a little on the side a put a little on the inside. Then he opens a little to lick it and I get the rest on his tongue. He doesn’t want anything to eat yesterday or today tho 😕

Wishing you luck with your boy! Here’s a older photo I have that can help with mouth anatomy if you need it!
My girl sometimes didn’t want to hiss when giving meds, so I tried wiggling little objects near her when rubbing her cask wouldn’t work. Honestly it can be trial and error, my girl wised up quickly when it came to med time.
Good luck with your boy! I hope he recovers quickly!

So as of this morning Lou still hasn't wanted to eat anything. He drank a bunch of water yesterday and been giving him his medicine. Now he won't open his right eye! Had him outside yesterday evening. When we came in and I put him back in his cage he started keeping it closed. What is happening!? 😫

Could be extreme stress. With everything his body is going through you may want to limit handling unless he has to get meds or he initiates wanting to come out. Limit his stress things that he normally likes like going outside may be far too much on his system between the medication and the injury.

The medications they have him on may make him not want to eat especially the meloxicam. This is a strong anti inflammatory pain med and it can cause GI upset and issues.

Great thank you! I was wondering if the meds were upsetting his stomach. He doesn't understand that if he eats with it he'd probably feel better. I left a voicemail for the reptile team who will be in tomorrow. When I was there on Friday they said I didn't need to do anything about keeping the area moist so I haven't been doing anything. I also asked them about that in the message I left to be sure.
