this thread was full of win, as was this post.

ACE, Stanley, Thank you! i told Mr Crayola, that we can no longer see eachother in that manor. it simply gets in the way of us being keeper and kept.. needless to say hes dissapointed, though he stated he is more interested in my girls zuhalu and natiri. and as for PSSHH, no one should attempt this without reading the entire thread. i dont know anyone that would read the original thread and just have a go at it. i did direct this toward an excited male didnt I? or am i just simply thinking i typed a bunch of stuff to help someone in this situation one day? you know what, maybe i didnt say this was for a last case resort for only an excited male. so why dont you go read it for me, and when you see i did say this is a horrible idea to attempt, WE will realize your just over protective of what you think is right or wrong. how long have you been keeping chameleons??? if you ever have an excited male PSHH, i do not recommend this technique to you, obviously no matter of high experience is enough for you. this information coming from me, is a person whom is only 26!!!!!! though ive been keeping for 10yrs and breeding for 8, and ofcourse my experience is enough for what i had done. after all, i do have a STILL HEALTHY 23 inch ampiskiana locale panther chameleon.

I've been keeping for 9 years, thank you. If my age matters to you, I'm 16.

You obviously are not understanding what I am trying to say. While you may think that everyone 'is smart enough to read the while thread' that is not true. It also has nothing to do with being smart. You previously stated that you will be laughing at everyone when a keeper in the future needs this information. This implies that you intended this for others to attempt. That is an awful idea. I'm not saying what you did was wrong, I'm saying the fact that you posted it here in a poorly executed mannor was wrong. You seem to still be too young to understand that though.

his stuff was out for about 3 hrs. pshh, you being 16 helps prove my point. a thread like this is for the experienced, not the young and lucky enthusiast. read it AGAIN! i said i would laugh when someone else has a huge chameleon trying to rip its junk off on a vine, being a person who said i was wrong for what i did. go get stuck in this situation and see how fast your ready to right a wrong! this is posted directly to a specific situation and has been described for experienced individuals only. exactlly, excluding you and your opinions from that list! a KID thinking this is directions to some sort of miracle! all i said is in last case scenario, lightly drag the tips of fingers downward across the surface of the skin and this girl thinks im saying stick a needle through it and twist it around 3 or 4 times. you mean to tell me you have the money for anesthetics and surgery? what would Pshh do!? its gonna be a new religeous themed statement now because your opinion matters so much.....

Hey man i know what you been through was not the best of situations, BUT

please dont go ranting to Pssh about how "little she knows" or how naive- you are trying to decribe her as "inexperienced"....She may come out a bit strong by her choice of words BUT she DOES care or else she wouldnt have posted in the first place, and dont take it in a certain "tone" a she would put it.....She is actuaully one of the few young and i gotta say "quite" experienced and has given a great amount of help in the forums.....NEVER judge a person by his/her age......please .....

and for the record im 16 years old as well.....:p

sorry for derailing this thread but i dont like potential conflicts with people i know and have gotten a pleasure of knowing.....

Excuse me, I have indeed delt with prolapses before, and I have helped a troubled chameleon get it back in. That being said, I would not recommend that anyone who is not experienced (and I don't see how 9 years doesn't count as experienced as you have only been keeping a year longer than me) in chameleons to even attempt to try anything but put some lube on it and take it to the vet.

Now why does a 'mature' 26 year old have to resort to using my age as an indicator of my experience and knowledge? While I may not be the most experienced keeper, I certainly am not new to the hobby, certain medical problems, care, and many other things that come with owning a chameleon. Just because I was competent enough to keep chameleons alive and healthy when I was 7, doesn't mean that my knowledge and experience has degraded over time. And no, it wasn't me 'getting lucky' my first chameleon lived to be almost 7. I think the fact that I was mature, responsible, and knowledgable enough to care for such delicate animals when I was young shows just that. I was able to keep chameleons alive, healthy, and well when many people who were 2-5+ times my age could not.

When did I say that you stuck a needle in it and twisted it around? Why would the animal need surgery if you got it to the vet quickly? Generally a hemipenal prolapse that is kept moist and is brought to a vet quickly only requires a purse suture to help keep the tissue in. The real problem begins when you allow the tissue to become necrotic and/or infected. That isn't all that expensive.

Yes I do have the money for that. I actually save and keep a portion of my money aside for emergency vet needs. I recently had to bring my rescue sulcata to the vet because he had a hemipenal prolapse that I was not able to assist in the retraction of, and he had to stay over night, was given a purse suture, needed to be given Relaxants, and was put on antibiotics as it had been out for a while before the vet was able to see him. It was all less than $250 which was a very small fraction of my vet funds. Thank you.

Also, I do not understand the miracle statement. Do you mean to imply that I believe that your actions are a miracle fix for a hemipenal prolapse? If that is the case, I certainly do not.

Believe it or not, 'kids' can be smart, mature, and responsible.

i say these things bringing the best out of the situation. this is my point, an experienced keeper can do these things! as you have. i be-littled enough to put a hand on the situation. you said help put it back in! in the last case scenario, when you cant help him do that, DO THIS! he remained excited, there were no more options. i used these things against you, and in return you prove that 9 years equals experience in your case! someone can take care of a chameleon(s) for so long(9 yrs) and not be experienced, but its the ones who shine in times of trouble that are fortified with such experiences. and you yourself have that! i was taking a shot at age, i wanted to hear the proof of your so called "experience". this heated anger was used to that cause. yet after all ive now stated, you bet your still right, dont you? just cuz putting your chams tools back in worked huh? thats not always the case! and this is probably the best thing that can be done for a ONCE AGAIN "EXCITED" male. so what did you have to prove after all? your simply contradicting yourself if your saying the only way to fix this wrong is by helping put it back in. after all, sounds like more pressures added. you should put a warning on this before someone does something crazy!

Oh my gosh. I'm not saying it can't work. I'm not saying it isn't possible to get a prolapsed hemipenes back in without vet help. Geeze.

I'm saying you need to be careful with your wording as it could prove detrimental to a chameleon whose owner took your words incorrectly. Get it? If you haven't gotten it by this post, there is nothing more I can say to you except that I am disappointed and amused.

I have no idea what the rest of the stuff you are talking about is.
