my 23 inch male panther tried copulating today with a sweet little girl, whom happened to be a wee bit to little to say the least. he cant line up his skeleton key to her master lock, but decided to bring it on out anyways showing off his key. i had to seperate them it just wasnt really working out ofcourse. hes jsut to darn big! needless to say, his key was out and about on display for show and tell. no matter what i said, he had to be the class clown and do what he wanted anyways. It just stayed OUT though! he wouldnt retract it! so when i put him back in his cage, he just tried to rub it on the vines to get it off of him. i was PETRIFIED! i tried cold and warm water to un-excite him, DIDNT WORK! so i thought maybe it got twisted and would retract until situated. WRONG! but finally i tried to re-adjust it, but i couldnt see which way it needed to sit. so i attempted to gently pull it out a lil bit to see its positioning, to attempt fixing the wrong. eventually each pull, when my fingers kinda slid off, from pulling it only gently, i noticed it was shrinking in size quickly! if anyone ever has this problem, trust me on this. clean your hands or use gloves! spray it down with water, and just gently pull downward allowing it to drag through your fingers, immediately it will shrink down and retract

That's is absolutely not good advice! You can seriously injure the animal in doing that. If you are going to do anything, clean it off, apply a lubricant (ky jelly works well) and you may try to gently help put it back IN.

this is seemingly a potential HORRIBLE IDEA! this is only a last resort for an EXCITED male with his tools out and about. i cannot enforce my reguards enough. this must be done VERY VERY gently, and NOT for LIMP hemipene's!!!!! i could not afford a vet for this act, and an attempt was success-filled. i feel your support on this important matter. i was NOT PULLING, but merely dragging my fingers across the tissues in a downward motion. this is far better than allowing a male to drag his tools across a vine trying to remove his member. this is last resort only for an excited male ONLY!

Unless its impossible for the cham to retract it. Leave it alone. Only do the Ky thing if its not going back in after quite a while. And I agree with Pssh I wouldn be pulling or rubbing on it. I'd leave that to an exp retile vet. You could seriously damage your cham if you dont know what your doing.

all of you are just hilarious! did i not state what purpose directly this thread was mentioning? am i the only one that can read? if i had to, i would have masterbated him had i known it would work laws pertaining to or not. thats not what this is about! there are more pressures involved in an actual mating than the pressure i applied to undo a horrible event. i stated in exactlly what instance this may be used, and if someone feels uncomfortable with this than dont do it! you all can make fun of me, but ill be making fun of you when your chameleons tools get ripped off on a vine. atleast I know that IIIIIII have the heart to help an in need animal! lastly, I get the last laugh. Ha!.......and one day someone in this EXACT situation will thank me. i wouldnt have done anything that could jeapordize his health. like i said no pressure was involved. if you guys can read, listen, and process the information coming out of my mouth translated through text here in any of these god forsaken boxes, maybe some of you numb skulls could lern something. I stand by my words when i say YES this is NOT a good idea, but ONLY in this EXACT situation that this technique MAY be applied! good ridence to all....

I'm pretty sure they are all busting your balls... (no pun intended.. ok, maybe a little intended). Maybe he needs to practice with a shake weight.

he cant line up his skeleton key to her master lock, but decided to bring it on out anyways showing off his key.

Didn't mean to offend, just thought you would appreciate a little humor based on you fun choice of words above.

Along with all the playing I guess I could have mentioned that , I am happy your chameleon is OK and that worked for you. I don't think you did anything wrong. Good job

I didn't read this thread earlier, but I am so glad I just did! You guys are so funny! :D On a serious note, I am glad that your man-cham is ok after his amorous ordeal! Dragging your bits on a vine has GOT to hurt!

Thank you aswell Ryan for your support! the humor didnt hurt!!! the ones telling me its a horrible idea made me mad. only because i thought i made a great point to disclose how direly important it were to be considered a technique worth while on a very specific occassion, is ALL! i was joking, in laughter in the original thread. and i understand if ppl dont read close enough, THEY MAY end up injuring their friend forever!!! though after all this is a chameleon forum, and we should be experienced keepers in the first place.... chameleons just have to many finiky moments in their life, for us not to be on the edge of our seat prepared for anything. aslong as that "anything" doesnt jeapordize one of my little babies lives. i almost cried when this happened to him, but i didnt have time for that! every second it was outside his body could have been the last... vaseline or not, a 23 inch male is sure to damage whatever the hell he pleases. to all that laugh with me in light of a serious situation that turned out phenominal, God Bless and Happy Seasons Greetings.

We are not all experienced members in the first place. You have to start somewhere. If someone who was new to the hobby had a prolapsed chameleon, they may read your thread and seriously hurt the animal. I feel you should have put a warning out so that others would understand. You are obviously not a vet and should not advise people to do anything that could be interpreted incorrectly and cause serious harm without a disclaimer of sorts. Some of the newer people are even kids who may not understand your poorly written post and tug on the animal. JMO.
