problem with plants

hey guys!

so I've been keeping my panther in a 24x24x48 and I have a ficus plant and a umbrella plant, and they are dying all the leaves are falling . I think that the reason is because they are planted in a cheap soil that I bought for 2 dollars in home depot. The leaves are turning brownish wish indicates that the plants are drowning. I touched the soil and is super wet is like the soil doesnt dry out.

The plants receive natural sunlight from a window so I know is not the light.

just wondering if somebody has any experience in this.
or what soil can I use

thanks

I use clay pellets in the bottom 1/3 of the plant pot. then I let it drain all day out the bottom into another container I can easy empty. It helps with the drowning. my soil is always moist but not soaked.

If you have an automatic misting system, cover the soil with plastic wrap so the H2o doesn't enter the soil. Then you will have to remember to water them...:D
