Chameleon Info:
Cage Info:
This is my first chameleon. His name is Clamps and i would really like to provide the best I can for him. Thank you all for any help.
- Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care? Veiled Chameleon, about 2 months I believe. He has been in my care a little over 2 weeks
- Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon? Only when absolutely necessary for cage cleaning.
- Feeding - What are you feeding your cham? What amount? What is the schedule? How are you gut-loading your feeders? I am currently feeding crickets, 10-20 a day. The feeders are gut loaded with Flukers Orange Cube
- Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with and what is the schedule? I use Repti calcium with every feeding, once a week i use the kind with D3. I also used Reptivite with every feeding.
- Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? How often and how long to you mist? Do you see your chameleon drinking? I have the little dripper and i see him drink from it. I also have a fogger that mists for 30 mins every hour and a half.
- Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings. Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites? His fecal matter is brown and solid. His urates are white with a tiny bit of yellow on the end. He has not been tested for parasites
- History - Any previous information about your cham that might be useful to others when trying to help you. When he was purchased he spent a lot of time pretty out in the open. We recently noticed spots of mold on the branches in his enclosure. We took out those branches and replaced them with wood we whittled and washed from outside. We also added some new fake plants and leaves. Today when i came home from work he was sleeping under the new leaves. He also slept a tiny bit during the day yesterday but then he was up and moving around as normal after that. I know it is either a sign of stress or sickness that he s sleeping during the day.
Cage Info:
- Cage Type - Describe your cage (Glass, Screen, Combo?) What are the dimensions? I have a screen cage. It is 30in tall x 16in deep x 16in wide
- Lighting - What brand, model, and types of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule? The lights i have are by Zoo Med. The heat light is 150w (anything lower and with my central AC it wouldn't be warm enough. I also have a UVB bulb. The heat bulb runs 24/7 and the UVB runs from 8am-10pm
- Temperature - What temp range have you created (cage floor to basking spot)? Lowest overnight temp? How do you measure these temps? I recently bought a new probe temp/humidity meter by zoo med. The basking spot is around 90 and the bottom of the cage is 70. The house is pretty well controlled and I havent seen much of a dip in temperature at night.
- Humidity - What are your humidity levels? How are you creating and maintaining these levels? What do you use to measure the humidity? I use a fogger and it is on for 1/2 an hour on a low setting and then off for an hour. I also have the little dripper and I used to hand mist before the fogger. I am unsure if my new probe is working correctly, as when the fogger is on it measures in the 80 to high 80% humidity and when the fogger is off the humidity drops to around 45%
- Plants - Are you using live plants? If so, what kind?I am currently using fake plants as i've heard the chameleon will eat dirt or pebbles i try to grow them in.
- Placement - Where is your cage located? Is it near any fans, air vents, or high traffic areas? At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor? The cage is near the corner kind of tucked away and I have wrapped a sheet around 3/4 of the cage. His cage is on a half book case so the top of his cage is about 5 1/2 feet from the ground. I do have a humidifier i also run near his cage because the climate here is insanely dry.
- Location - Where are you geographically located? I am located in Denver Colorado
