I am new... doing alot or reading so that I can learn before I get my Chameleon. I just want to say how wonderful it is that everyone has been so helpful on this tread. You have posted links to very important things, answered questions and noticed things and advised better solutions to help someone with a new chameleon achieve the goal of having a very healthy Chameleon in a very healthy environment. Thank you!!!
unless your chameleon is getting many hours of natural sunshine everyday you still should have a UVB light (5.0 tube light Reptisun brand preferred)for indoors. Where exactly do you live in the south? Florida? Are you going to be able to get your chameleon outside everyday during the winter months?
I live in Louisiana. I am now able to put him outside now that the cold front has passed. I take him inside and let him sleep in the dark now at night. If it does get cold, then I am able to put him in my room. Is this okay? The temp is:
Just from that small picture I can't see very well.....are his legs bowed or curved at all, it looks like they might be?
Can you put a couple of bigger pictures up?
yes, please post some more pics that are clear. His legs look way to chunky(almost like he is bloated) and not formed right. Hopefully it is just your picture!!!
I apologize, I must have read it wrong. I saw under "lighting" the diningroom light, on 24/7, and I mistook that for being the only light. I didn't see any additional lighting mentioned.
forgive the assumption, anne
Can you get a picture of your chameleon standing on a flat surface or on a stick or something? How he supports his weight, what his limbs look like when he stands, is important. It's not so important that it be a well composed, interesting picture with good photoshop skills, it's more important that it show us the animal well.
What people are concerned about is metabolic bone disease it can be caused by several things like improper suppliments, lack of UV or even temperatures too low. Here are a couple links for you to thumb through
Does this help? More pictures will be uploading soon. He's on the floor of his cage right now catching crickets. I'll have to catch him on the branch when he's done.
You'll have to click on the pic to enlarge it. I can't find out how to enlarge it on here. It is bigger on my computer, but not on Cham Forums.
