It will always happen however they arent just trying to shoot you down, just giving sound advice..i mean i didnt start breeding untill maybe 10 years ago (been into chams, and keeping them for 18 years now) but just dont get discouraged..also..your cham looks fine!! matter of fact great!..if you are seeing a lil excess fat on him just lay back on the fatty feeders like wax worms, supers, and meal worms..otherwise looks good..

p.s. yes yes yes, mist a lil more than normal while they are shedding to help ease the process..
 
Do you have access to a competent chameleon vet? The lip thing makes me nervous, if you have one I might pop in for a check-up, just so you can have a professional look him over and make sure he isn't brewing anything.
 
I agree with Olimpia that his mouth does look a little odd and I'm concerned about potential mouthrot or something else going on.

That statement concerns me as well. Has he been doing this since he choked on water? (which I learned about the hard way as well btw)

i HAVE to agree with you though i had somewhat a similiar expierience everyone helped me i took my time got the stuff i needed and fixed everything and know i plan to breed in about 7 months when my female is of age (1year)

Not once did I imply that this person should breed or anything of the sort. I was simply pointing out how rude djfillgillz is and how his post really didn't contribute anything to the thread. Our point of view on the subject at hand has nothing to do with it. I have a problem with your attitude because you just like to beat up on people without ever trying to help the OP or the chameleon in need of it. Don't change the argument here.

Chameleoman - did you appreciate people helping you so you could continue to learn about the hobby and get to where you are today or would you have preferred being criticized and insulted? That was my point.

I would never force water into a chameleon's mouth.

Drip water on his nose if you need to stimulate him to drink.

It's possible the swelling will go down in a few days but really, a vet visit is the best idea here.
 
the pictures provided in this thread...your chameleon casque looks fine but im worried about the content you have posted in other threads. could you please provide the information needed to fill this form out completely.

Chameleon Info:

Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care?
Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon?
Feeding - What are you feeding your cham? What amount? What is the schedule? How are you gut-loading your feeders?
Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with and what is the schedule?
Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? How often and how long to you mist? Do you see your chameleon drinking?
Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings. Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites?
History - Any previous information about your cham that might be useful to others when trying to help you.


Cage Info:

Cage Type - Describe your cage (Glass, Screen, Combo?) What are the dimensions?
Lighting - What brand, model, and types of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule?
Temperature - What temp range have you created (cage floor to basking spot)? Lowest overnight temp? How do you measure these temps?
Humidity - What are your humidity levels? How are you creating and maintaining these levels? What do you use to measure humidity?
Plants - Are you using live plants? If so, what kind?
Placement - Where is your cage located? Is it near any fans, air vents, or high traffic areas? At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor?
Location - Where are you geographically located?
 
Bb ambilobe CHAMELEON 4 1/2 months

Eating- His appetite hasn't been up to par. Been feeding him mealworms cause he's not eating crickets.

Stool- poops once a day but yesterday he didnt.
During the day his skin is dark and when he's sleeping its whiter color.
His cage is placed in my living room on top of a big dresser.
His cage is 2 1/2 feet high by 1' 1/2 wide.
I put him outside when there's sunlight.
I mist 3 times daily,(barely started)

Been moving slow ,lazy like
also looks overweight ,maybe from too much mealworms

Yes ive been dusting my feeders with calcium d3 3 times a week.
I just noticed when I blow by his eye,it doesn't close all the way as usual. He closes his eye ,not his whole eyelid ,weird...
Still moves slow
 
You need to dust with calcium without d3 every feedin, about 15 or more crickets a day, sadly mealworms are a horrible diet and should only be used as a treat. Plenty of people have said this before. Take the crickets out at night. Calcium wit d3 and a multivitamin that contains vitamin A should be given 2 a month. Surprisingly your chameeon looks ok in majority of his pics. If this costs to much money, ill pay for shipping, but that cham neds a vet update and a hella good husbandry program. I'm not trying to be the bd guy hre, but I am. But there's always hope that you'll research your husbadry fo a few hous and do a total makeover. Goodluck.
 
Thank you. He started being less active and going downhill on his appetite when I got a new veiled CHAMELEON. I recently seperated them and ever since I bought my veiled ,hes not as active as before
 
Nah he will be ok. Slowely but surely .... I'll be putting him outside in a little once the sun once the sun comes out
 
What lights does he have?

Make sure that he has:
1. A properly-sized cage with plenty of plant cover to hide in
2. A Basking bulb that keeps the temps at about 85*F
3. A UVB bulb, like the Reptisun 5.0
4. 3 types of supplements - a phosphorous-free calcium, a phosphorous-free calcium with D3, and a multivitamin. The first is used at every feeding, the other two only twice a month.
5. Plenty of watering opportunities. He needs to be misted at least 3-4 times for a couple minutes each, make sure that everything is really wet.
6. Offer a variety of insects, not just crickets and meal worms. offer him things like hornworms, butterworms, roaches, etc.

And please take him to the vet! If he's not eating a lot and is weak I think he may have an infection in his mouth and that's why he's going downhill. Please listen to us, these guys can be a little sick one day and dead two days later.
