Hi everyone, Just wondering if anyone knows if persimmon is safe to use for gutloading? I tried searching but didn't find anything conclusive. Thanks!

I was just about to ask this same question...
Right now I have lots of persimmon.. I was eating one about an hour ago, and decided to give it a try on my veiled....
he ate like 2 or 3 pieces... it seems that the persimmon left a strange sensation on his tongue because he kept moving his tongue, as he would when he drinks....
he seems fine :) ... I just would like to know more about its nutrition facts...

it seems that its a good source of: vitamin-A, beta-carotene, lycopene, lutein, zea-xanthin and cryptoxanthin... also its seems to be high in vitamin C

they seem to be higher in Phosphorus than calcium though....

I would really avoid using a persimmon when theres so many other tried and true options. Persimmons give a sort of numbing sensation in your mouth and I can't imagine it would be fun for a chameleon and their sensitive mouths.

I adore persimmons, so I have tons of peels and bits around the house. My crickets won't touch it, the superworms eat everything else first, and the isopods love it more than anything else. Snails seem to be indifferent. Generally, I don't even offer it to the crickets or supers anyone.

Not sure about the "numbing sensation"... I like hachiyas and love love love fuyus. I've never experienced any weird mouth sensation before.
