Leonchameleon

New Member
Hey guy’s so I join the forum few months ago, when I first got my girl Pascal ( veiled). We had a giant Pothos growing in the kitchen next to the window. (First Picture) so we decided to make it a free range home, slowly but surely getting her lamps together and she been happy (#2-3 pictures). My wife decided to buy me a Leon the chameleon (Leon like the movie btw) picture #4 is when I first saw him at the store. So I decided to work on a cage out of the norm, I’ve posted a few pictures a few post back but here’s what it look after built (pic#5).It took about a month to get all design the way I wanted with the right plants and there’s still a few adjustments to be made but this it so far, her uvb is coming in tomorrow and the hydroponic store is getting the LED for the plants in the morning. (#6-#7-#8-#-9) Hope you guys like it all critics are welcome. I’ve been told by my reptile shop and friends to maybe start a YouTube channel for all my reptile, might see them one day on there. Thank you

Where is the uvb light on the cage setup?

I would add real sticks into the panther's cage. Not just the dowels. Maybe another small plant too.

Where is the basking light for the free range? I cant tell if the strip light you've got up there is UVB or a grow light. Either way she is too close to the lights. She shouldn't be able to get any closer than 10 inches away. Also, cant she escape the free range if she wanted to? I would be worried about that as well.

Fill this out, please :). Put what you do for each chameleon under each section.. make it clear which chameleon you are talking about. Veiled and panther chameleon care is almost identical, aside from a few things. But male and female care is different, and they have some different requirements.

Chameleon Info:
  • Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care?
  • Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon?
  • Feeding - What are you feeding your cham? What amount? What is the schedule? How are you gut-loading your feeders?
  • Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with and what is the schedule?
  • Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? How often and how long to you mist? Do you see your chameleon drinking?
  • Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings. Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites?
  • History - Any previous information about your cham that might be useful to others when trying to help you.

Cage Info:
  • Cage Type - Describe your cage (Glass, Screen, Combo?) What are the dimensions?
  • Lighting - What brand, model, and types of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule?
  • Temperature - What temp range have you created (cage floor to basking spot)? Lowest overnight temp? How do you measure these temps?
  • Humidity - What are your humidity levels? How are you creating and maintaining these levels? What do you use to measure humidity?
  • Plants - Are you using live plants? If so, what kind?
  • Placement - Where is your cage located? Is it near any fans, air vents, or high traffic areas? At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor?
  • Location - Where are you geographically located?

Current Problem - The current problem you are concerned about.

Great stuff and a water proof sealer I believe some type of silicone don’t remember the name of it but I will go to Home Depot get the name of it, since I have to pick up a few things
Do you have to use a sealant or something on top of the Great Stuff foam, even if you're using GS Pond and Stone?
