Parsonii male or female or too early to tell?

Hi all, Thought it was about time to ask for opinions on the sex of this orange eye parsonii, born sept 15 - sold as male but not showing male colours yet- I like the rostral bulges that look male but the colouring doesn't show any orange on eyes, had three people here on previous posts say male.I'll be heartbroken if it's a female but whatever it is, it is glowing with health at the moment- I am still having issues with a mouth ulcer it came with but with that exception it's feeding very well and growing, just shed well and gaining confidence.
What's the opinion or do I have to wait a bit longer?

Hi Jann, Oh I hope you are wrong! I'll be so upset if it's female- I bought a pair but in my heart I feel it's female- looking at the pics of Cooper last night he showed male colours earlier that this one isnt showing, , I'm not really on facebook- not very good at it but borrow my partners profile every so often, I'll wait a bit longer then I might ask you for his name if no luck here.
Thanks for the reply :)

Or you can get some good tail shots and I'll ask him.

I am going to say female. There's a slim chance otherwise, but I think those rostral processes will become less prominent as she grows.

Are you on Face Book? There's a guy on there that use to be active on here that can sex them pretty much right out of the egg. He sexed my Cooper correctly at 8 weeks old. He goes by the base of the tail just like how you'd sex a panther.

I am far from an expert but I'd guess female. She looked just like my girl Hera. https://www.chameleonforums.com/med...tiful-parsonii-girl-10-1-08-to-10-12-13.1877/
So what's the guy or gal on face books name I might want to reach out in regards to my 16 panthers

Bucky always had a prominent rostral process just like yours, and right at 11 months, it started to expand significantly. His eyes are also far more on the yellow side than a strong orange, so I wouldn't rely on that as an indicator. (Personally, I'm terrible at the tail method, so I'm no help there.)

Edit: Also, his (my guess) colors are beautiful!

Hi thanks for the replies- Jann will try and get some pics tomorrow as he's gone to bed now,
Drew thanks for the reply, hope you are well,

Oh, o.k he was 80g when I got him back in beginning of June- I can weigh him tomorrow if you want. Thanks for the reply action jackson :)

I would say male. He has some nice color for sure. 100g at 1yr old is a good weight IMO.

Here's a male approximately the same age and size as yours.

Hi there, Mine doesn't exhibit any of those colours during any temp or mood though - is that o.k? . It's pretty much always like in the photo , paler but doesnt have strong stripes or a spot . I have a possibility of swapping for a male in september- shall I pass that by for the time being and wait for better colouration to appear - you seem confident it's male though, I can try and get some better pictures- he's still a little shy but getting much better.
Drew- he's been difficult to settle and wouldnt eat for a while but easily eats 2 med roaches-2 med large locusts , calciworms on a good day- I forcep feed now so I have a better idea of intake.
Thanks very much for your opinions- they are very much appreciated. :)
Shall I attempt to weigh him tomorrow?

While I respect the keeper's opinions that differ from my own, the fact of the matter is that it is too early to know for certain, based on visual assessments. Someone that uses the tail base and very practiced at it may be able to help, but I've seen males show obvious male colors and growth of the rostral processes at a very small size, while I've also read about "females" turning out to be male, when they are close to the size of your chameleon.
I think you will know for certain, in a month or 2.

If you are able to forcep feed and the chameleon is taking food regularly ( nearly daily ), that is my experience with males. Males are less shy, eat more, and put on weight faster, but that is based on my modest experience and conversations with other keepers.

The chameleon being pale green and showing no hints of other colors is also indicative of a female, but once again, time, probing by a vet, or an expert with a high success rate of sexing via the tail base appearance, are your only ways to know for certain. I also notice some striping in your animal, which is more a male characteristic, but not difinitive. Below is my pair, for comparison.
The male was 128 grams, on 5/18, today he is 157.4.
The female was 148 grams, on 5/18, today she is 161.5.
She's usually ahead 20ish grams, but he eats more and grows faster.

not positive but looking at root of tail I would say male ,,,, wait for a month or two and get better pictures of the root of the tail

I agree with the male camp, I'd say100% male. Females don't show blue scales on the cheeks, you can also see a blue cast on his sides in the first photo. That's the start of the adult male coloration developing. His rostrals also look male.
Young females are more uniformly green.
