Panther with a wound on his tail

My 1 year old panther looks to have hurt his tail. About an inch from the end it looks to be a wound. Looks like it may have been bleeding, the area looks to have closed up now though. The tail in this area does appear to have a small kink, but he is not having any problems using the tail.

Is there anything I can do to help him heal, and definately to avoid it getting infected?

Unfortunately I am unable to get a picture.

For any type of skin wound like that, I always use silver sulfadiazine cream (2%) which can be prescribed by your vet. This stuff works like a charm heal the wound (works on people, too) but also knocks out any bacteria that may have gotten in there as well. In a pinch (or until you can get to the vet), you can also use neosporin. It's not as good, but will still work.

Thanks for the quick response chams1. I used a little polysporin on it, this is what I had around the house. Tomorrow I will try and get the other product you recommended.
