Panther chameleons

What is the diffrence Panther chameleons and Veileds for there difficulty for their general care? Most people say there more hard than Veileds, why?

Actually, most people believe that Veileds are more hardy, if just by a little. They are pretty much the same care wise except for temperature and humidity. Panthers have to be kept cooler and I believe a bit more humid. I think it's because of that that Veileds are considered more hardy as they can stand a wide range of newbie mistakes.

Yea, both Veileds and Panthers are commonly recommended for beginners. But that really depends on the amount of work you're ready to put in. I chose to get a Jackson's as my first chameleon because I didn't think the requirements were more than I could handle (and because I thought they were cute!). And so far so good! lol. Just make sure you read up on all the specs of a panther if you're interested in getting one and decide from there.

The main difference, to me, is the ideal temp range for a panther is a little less (not quite so hot, not quite so cool).

Being the keeper I am my veileds and panthers share a room. I set the temps & humidity for the panthers and the veileds seem fine with it. My quads have to have a seperate room. Much cooler & much more humid. Decide what ranges of temp and humidy you can/want to achieve and select the chameleons that fits what you have to offer. Just my thoughts.

I agree with Laurie. My panthers (most of them), veileds and meller's are in the same room with the same temps and humidity. My carpets and montane species are kept downstairs where it is a little cooler and more humid.
