Panther Chameleon Enclosure Help Please

Did you get the enclosure you have and the stuff from petsmart or Petco? If you have the receipt you can return it.

So without the correct UVB baby will develop Metabolic Bone Disease. The limbs will bow and no longer be straight and the baby will not be able to climb. Then baby will eventually die. This is how you need to explain it to your parents. Right now the only way to help with this is taking baby outside in real sun 30 minutes each day.

I can give you the link for the proper UVB fixture and bulb.

Pull the heat fixture forward. in line with the UVB>
This was a kit from petsmart. It is not returnable because everything is already opened.

Petco will return any opened item.... Have you called petsmart to ask them. Last I heard they will do the same thing as long as you have the receipt and do it within a certain time period.

When you are newer to cham keeping it can be better to tag in the more experienced members rather than answering in bits and pieces. Then read through the info given. This is how you learn faster so that you can eventually do help forms too. Keep learning you will get there. :)
OK thank you for your help Beman

I just want to ask one more thing. Is this the enclosure that is good?

Ok I convinced my parents. I am purchasing a 24 by 24 by 48 screen enclosure. Can you tell me everything I can put in this enclosure and what uvb light and heat light to get?

Gotta do the work hun. Otherwise you will not understand all that I am trying to explain. The last thing you want is to buy more incorrect items. Trust me start reading and watching... You can do all this in one day. And make a list as you go of what you need to buy.

https://chameleonacademy.com/case-study-2-x-2-x-4-cage/

You want to collect branches from outside. NOT from sap producing trees. So no pine and no cedar. These are used in the cage for the baby to travel on.

This fixture 24 inch.... BUY TWO. https://www.pangeareptile.com/store/t5-uvb-light-fixture.html
you will need 1 for plant growth. Then with the second fixture you will pull out the plant bulb and replace with this bulb 22inch. https://www.pangeareptile.com/store/arcadia-6-uvb-t5-reptile-bulb.html

One for your plants and you will have an extra bulb for that one and then the other is the correct uvb. Distance to basking is 8-9 inches no closer.

Ok thank you so much. The enclosure will arrive in a couple days so until then I pay close attention to the chameleon. Until then I will do all the research I can. If I have any questions I'll ask here. Thank you😁

Buy the fixtures and bulb I gave you links for. Those are equally important. :)

Hi Beman, I am looking on how to support the branches and plants and came across Dragon Strand dragon Ledges. Do you use these and do you recommend them? Here is the link https://dragonstrand.com/product/dragon-ledges-24-five-pack/

Yes, I use these and love these... I highly recommend ordering his bundle with the drainage tray. Here is the link. It comes with hydration mounts if you want to get an automatic misting system in the future.

https://dragonstrand.com/product/2x2x4-cage-accessory-pack/

If you do not want to get misting system and just want to hand mist that is fine too and you can just buy the ledges and the drainage tray. Here is the link for just the drainage tray https://dragonstrand.com/product/universal-25-drainage-tray/

This is what I have done with ledges.

1. That is a beautiful chameleon and 2. Does the drainage tray go under the enclosure? And I was looking at this misting system, here is the link. Would this work? https://www.amazon.com/REPTI-ZOO-Te...7PRS6YCC?tag=thepetsupplyg-20#customerReviews

Also what comes in the bundle? Does it just come with the 5 dragon stand ledges and the drainage tray because it is 118 for those two separately but 129.99 for the bundle.

So the drainage tray goes under the cage. This way when you mist the water does not flood your floor. You can either modify the tray with a hole and pvc piping to drain into a bucket or use a wet vacuum to pull the water out.

The bundle comes with two wedges for a misting system. I recommend the Mistking misting system. It comes with one nozzle and you would just buy a plastic tote or bucket with lid for the water reservoir it pumps from. You can buy this on Josh's frogs https://www.joshsfrogs.com/mistking-starter-misting-system-version-4-free-shipping.html

Use the code reptiliangarden15 when you buy from joshs frogs and you will save 15% on your order.

Ok so do I have to get a misting system? Can I just use a spray bottle and spay the enclosure for like a minute or two? And if I don't get a mister do I still need the drainage tray?

Ok let's say I do get this misting system, does the misting system not only provide water for the chameleon, but provide water for all the plants to keep them alive? And the dragon strands, are they only supports for sticks or for potted plants as well?

I would have some sort of drainage no matter how you plan to mist because you will also need to provide a dripper so the cham can drink during the day. Adding ice cubes allows for a slow dripping lasting longer. Or you can add water. A plastic solo cup with tiny pin holes in the bottom set on top of the cage screen will drip in and on the plants below until it eventually ends up on the ground. You do not want leaking and all cages will leak.

You can get a pressurized spray bottle so it does not kill your hands spraying... You need to be misting for at least 2 minutes in the morning and in the evening. Then dripper during the day.

Your parents would prefer not to have water damage to the floor and the table. ;)
