Panther chameleon angry at me

It’s a bark, the guy at the shop recommended it for the bottom for easy cleaning. Plus, it holds my branches in place better
Be careful with this... Yes, you have a panther and they don't actively try to eat everything but if the bark is staying moist it is going to grow bacteria and if a feeder gets on it and your cham tries to eat it he could ingest the bark which is an impaction risk.

Okay, I was unaware of that. I will keep an eye out. Thank you.

Update. Took the bark out an hour after the messages. Saw my cham eat a cricket that was on the bark and he got ahold of some of the bark with the cricket and ate it. Bark is gone for good, but will my cham be okay? He’s acting fine now and he swallowed it but I’m not sure if that will harm his insides, and if so, what to do.

Good call. Bare bottom is better for spot cleaning unless you are totally bio active. That has its own perks.

As far as your boy just keep an eye on him. Make sure he is eating and drinking. Most of the time it will pass without issue. :)

Yeah, it was a suggestion from a reptile store so I got it thinking it would be cool. But tbh I freaked when I saw him eat it. They weren’t large chunks thankfully and he has at least ate since then because I gave him a horn worm not to long after to actually see if he could eat so he does seem fine. Just scared his mama lol
But glad to know, thank you. I will not have anything at the bottom of his cage other then paper towels.

Get yourself the dragon strand drip pan... trust me on this lol. As far as the reptile store. Double check here before they take your money. Many people that work in pet stores do not actually know the husbandry of the animals. They just think well this works for this reptile so it works for the rest. I got suckered and spent a ton of money on all the wrong things when I first got into the hobby before I found this forum.

Will a dragon strand drip fit in any 24-24-48 cage? Because I have the zoo med. only one I could afford atm. And very good advice because my first set up was totally wrong at over $200 only to spend another $400 on his new set up. Don’t mind the money, I just mind spending money on wrong items. Irritating lol. And yes, this forum is my life saver tbh. I love my cham so much and what everything to be perfect for him. I’m so excited for my cham experience and hope to have more in the future ❤️

Yeppers here ya go hun. I have the drip easy pan with the screen that lays over the top... But I have all my plants suspended by dragon ledges so no weight on the bottom. You do need to either do a gravity drain for water to drain out or have a wet vac. I have the wet vac.

If you want the drip easy that has a screen over the pan bottom and the ledges. https://dragonstrand.com/product/25-heavy-duty-drainage-tray-24-dragon-ledges-bundle-drip-easy/

If you just want the drip pan without the screen https://dragonstrand.com/product/large-heavy-duty-drainage-tray/

If you want the drip pan without the screen and the ledges. https://dragonstrand.com/product/universal-25-heavy-duty-drainage-tray-24in-dledges/

This talks about a gravity drain. https://dragonstrand.com/a-simple-gravity-drain-for-dragon-strand-drainage-trays/

This tells you how to use the ledges. https://dragonstrand.com/dragon-ledges/

So I already have a tray because of the bark. May I ask what you would most recommend?

So is it the kind that you slide into the cage? The only issue with that is it will not contain all the water run off and over spray. If you are going to continue hand misting it may work for you but you will still get leakage onto your table. If you are going to use a mistking auto mister then you definitely want to consider upgrading. I think it just depends on your needs.

What I would encourage you to do is do as much research as possible and learn. Because your going to find that your enclosure needs more and more. This does add up. I can tell you what I think but my way is not the only way. I have spent about $2500 total on Beman for his entire set up. This includes the first $400 that the store told me I needed to buy that was all wrong. My enclosure is fully automated dimming thermostat, lights, mistking, dripper, and fogger for nights. So I can leave town for 3 days if needed.

So basically figure out what you want him to have and what suits your lifestyle (if you need it to be automated) and go from there.

Oh I am doing constant research. Yeah I spent a good 2-3 hundred on my cham at first to find out my set up was all wrong to. I just spent another 400+ on him and I know I’m not done, just broke rn so waiting till I get more money to keep upgrading his cage. I did get the monsoon timing listing system and yes my table does get a little wet with the slide in tray but I have a towel underneath that I change out. Kinda ghetto stuff for that but it’s what I can do for the time being. Not a big hassle either so it works out for now with the screen cage.
