Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - Veiled Chameleon Female. Around 3 months old. In my care for almost 1 month
Handling - When I clean the cage (every 1-2 weeks)
Feeding - when I first bought her, once a day with 6-7 dusted crickets. Gut loaded them with carrots and some lettuce. However, after I started feeding her superworms, she refused to eat any more crickets. she now eats 1 1" long superworm or 2-3 shorter ones every day for the last week.
Supplements - Reptivite with D3 (Zoo Med's). Dust them most days before feeding her.
Watering - had a little dripper and misting (3 times a day 45 min each time) Have seen her drinking
Fecal Description - Normal. dark brownish with white end. havent tested for parasites.
History - Captive bred.

Cage Info:
Cage Type - Combo Reptile cage. 13x23x17"
Lighting - Zoomed UVB 10 and occational 50W heating lamp. UVB on from 1100 to 1900
Temperature - 71-86F measured with digital thermometer.
Humidity - 50-91% with misting machine and spraying water. Measured with digital humidity sensor
Plants - Fake plant decorations.
Placement - Next to the window. Fans occasionally. air con on during the day. cage on top of table.
Location - Hong Kong.

Current Problem - 2 weeks ago. left eye shut for a few days. took to vet. prescribed eye drops and antibiotics which needs to be injected into the insects before feeding it to her (superworm). after a week, left eye opens, but right eye shuts. often slept during the day for the past 2 weeks. diminished appetite. :S

What is wrong with her and what should I do? I think the vet said it was an eye infection. did it spread to the other eye or is it something else?

You could do with 12 hours of UVB exposure if you are not putting her outside :)

If that is a compact 10.0 UVB bulb it could certainly be part of the issue. You are also underfeeding a 3 month old. You should not be dusting with vitamins every feeding-you should be using those 2x monthly at the most. You need to get a calcium supplement without D3 that you use most feedings. If you do not fix these issues now your chameleon will go down hill very fast.

mine too :(

Aneunue, what type of bulbs are you using? Is the UVB a coil bulb? They are known to cause issues. What are the wattages?

they r the long bulbs 30 uvb and 60 uva the ones the vet recommend they are not compact florescence he also gets some natural sun time he has an outdoor enclosure he hangs in once or twice a week

thz for the advise

I have bought a repti calcium for her now, i will start dusting my feeders with it. And see how it goes...
Also, i have changed my UVB(15W) Tube to a weajer 5.0, instead of the 10.0, i hope this will help her.

at least she is still eating

I m worried that she wont see the feeders and hence, wouldnt get enough nutrition to fight the illness ><

Hope urs will get better soon..!!

I ve no idea how to help or wts going, since i m new to the chameleon world.

progress

My veiled is getting better these days, she didnt sleep that often during the day time now, and both of her eyes have opened :)

i have increased the number of times of spraying water and i think that helps her a lot !

However, she is still not eating properly...ate a 1/2" superworm only today and ate 3 of them ytd...i m afraid she is not getting enough food ><
I tried giving her crickets, she looks at them but shows no interest at all....and i cant really get hold of any other feeders.

ANY SUGGESTIONS??!!!!!
