On the bottom

Thor (male veiled) has been climbing down to the bottom. I'm not sure how long he's been doing this. I saw him on Friday climbing down and exploring. I've never seen it before because I'm usually in the lab all day. However, I'm now noticing a trend. He's walking all the way down to the bottom , and crawling around, then going back up. He is very active, not lethargic whatsoever. I'm positive he is a male (spurs on his hind legs).

Any advice?

some\ females\ have\ had\ spurs\ before\ but\ thats\ rare.\ does\ he\ appear\ to\ be\ hunting?\ try\ posting\ a\ pic\ or\ video\ of\ him\ doing\ this\ and\ maybe\ a\ person\ with\ more\ knowledge\ can\ shed\ some\ light\ on\ this.\ your\ cham\ could\ also\ just\ be\ curious\ or\ just\ have\ a\ natural\ pattern.

sorry\ for\ the\ backspaces\ computer\ is\ broken.:(

It could be that he's just exploring. Just make sure the bottom of the cage is clean. My cham does it also, time to time.

Just wondering, how large is your cage? A pic would be handy. If the little guy is exploring, he may need more room, more branches, etc.

Submitted for your approval,

I'll try to post a picture soon. My phone isn't cooperating. The cage is 18x18x36. He's about 5 months and approximately 45 grams.

Here's a picture of him about five minutes ago.

If hes just going down, looking around, and then goin gback upm hes just exploring.
it might be that he wants a bigger cage.

It would seem that the little booger is quite smart. We had a small tub of waxworms sitting next to his cage. We gave him one this morning as a treat (trying to get him used to hand-feeding), and he's figured out that the tub is where is worms come from. As soon as I moved the tub away he left, and hasn't gone back down since. I'll keep an eye on him, but I think he was hoping to get more.

I don't know if this will help you, but as some of you may know my cage setup was no proper for my chameleon, too much heat and UVB. during this time he was very active more so then now, he would go to the bottom of the cage, scratching at the cage window. Since I have corrected my lighting and heat he has not returned to the bottom of the tank. He could also be hunting, Some times my Chameleon would go down to the bottom cage looking for food, once he found what he was looking for he would return back to the top. I am no expert in the matter but, from what I have been told if he is active and not lethargic at the bottom of the tank he should be fine.
