omg omg i went to go check on her and turn the lights out & the mealworms where in the bucket eating at her side, she was bleeeding!!!!!! omg it just made me cry she had a mouth with a bunch of sand in it !! :'( i used a toothpic and got most of the sand out of her gums and off her tongue and took all the sand off of her with some water , i put her in her cage on a facecloth , she can hardly stand.. i'm gonna call the reptile vet in sudbury tomoro and ask for there advice on what i should do!! i'm gonna go check at the pet store tomoro too for something for reptile boe boe's :( I'm just freaking out here i don't know what to do , she didn't eat any worms, as of yesturday i've been giving her repta aid mixed with a little powder calcium so she can get some more boost and incase shes dehydrated ... i feel so bad, her eyes also look sunken in and it's like shes hardly got energy to open her eyes!! The pet store here says i'm giving her too much calcium? I give her normal calcium dusted on her crickets a day and a couple of drops of trex bone aid liquid calcium because everyone on here has told me she needs extra cause of her MBD, it kinda looked like her butt may have been bleeding? but it may have been from the one bite from the worms! omg i feel so bad i had no idea they would do thaat!! If i leave her in the laying bin with those in there it'll just get worse.. i left her in her cage on a facecloth suspended on the branches for the night, its been 4 days and still no eggs! i can't stand seeing a animal suffering! :(

take the worms out and try digging her a little starter hole and then try not to let her see you and hopefully she will still lay. if it gets too late she will need a vet to pass her eggs.. :(

Are you sure she is gravid.? She doesn't have the mustardy orange or robin egg blue spots on her that say she is mature. Unless they are somewhere else on her body. And yes, you need to take the worms out if they are eating her. And try to take her to a vet so the spot does not get infected.

yes. vet is a must really for the wound anyhow

i already made one , and i put her on the side of the laying bin and she goes and puts her butt in the whole so i'm pretty sure shes mature, and has blue tinges and yellow orangy tinges

Okay. I did know for sure because I couldn't see any from the pic. Just making sure. The vet appointment is a great plan. Maybe tell them about her egg laying problem as well.?

yeah thats the main reason , that and the MBD. & noww the frigen wound :( .. do you think pollysporin will be alright to put on it? or no

I expect the mealworms are chewing on her because she is so sick that she can't defend herself from them unfortunately.

I don't think it would hurt to put it on there till you get to the vet. Kinyonga could probably answer that better for you though.

Polysporin should be fine until you can get it to the vet. I hope she makes it to the vet and that the vet can help...but as this point its very iffy.

holy crap! ur poor cham...i had no idea mealworms can do that. now knowing what they're capable of, i don't care that they squirm in pain any time i pick one up tweezers to feed my jacksons! and it sounds like she's in good hands :) gl w/the vet visit.

Yes the polysporin should be helpful to the wound for now. Glad you are going to get her into the vet. Please let us know how the visit goes.

i know! thats what i said i feel like cutting up the frigen mealworms just for doing that to her!! i just freaked out as soon as i seen that i felt so frigen bad!
The closest reptile vet is 3 and a half hours away, the stupid animal hospital here says there too busy and won't even talk to the a reptile specialist to treat my chaam:(

That's ridiculous . Can they really say that they won't even talk to the reptile specialist to help your cham?

Dear god! thats terrible! I hate mealworms for other reasons ( poor nutritional value) but thats scary and unheard of as far as i knew...

And to think, this is their profession... Anyone in the medical field (In actuality it should be all fields of work) should feel a duty to go above and beyond their call of duty and to perform at the best, if not better of their abilities.

I understand how busy things can get, but to not make a simple call, i find that very unprofessional.

females can lay eggs regardless of the coloration some one on the forum here had a tiny female (no colors, except green) lay about 30 eggs or something around that number

That case is very few and far between though. Very very rare actually. Almost always they have to have the mustard orange and robin blue eggs spots before eggs get laid.
