So I recieved three boxes of Silkworms today (About 100 silkworms) and put them all in a bigger container, generally kept them very clean and well fed through the day.
Sadly I feel I've wasted my time. My sister decided it would be a great idea to leave the door open. We keep the door to that room shut all day as 1. there is a nice sofa we don't want them jumping on, 2. the Chameleons needs his privacy and 3. bugs. Sadly, one of the dogs spilled the Silkworms out of their box. I couldn't see any injured or dead, so if she ate any I wouldn't know sadly. I put all the ones I found on the floor back in the box and changed their paper towel floor.
My question is, how badly affected are Silkworms to dogs in general? I know how fragile they are, I take the best of care of them when I do buy them due to expense and I actually quite like the species in general. I don't want them all dying off or killing my other worms off. My hope is that they're all still alive by morning and will be fine. I think she will have touched them with her beard (She's a Schnauser) but nothing else.
Idiot family member is the bane of me. We've had a full box of locusts spilled for the exact same reason in the past. It stresses everyone out except the person who couldn't care less. I'm going to have to buy a decent shelf for these things which means even more money spent because someone else is so inconsiderate. /vent
