GOONIE spent his FIRST night inside last night... and boy is he ANGRY
he has been holding his mouth open and shaking angrily and he runs AWAY from my hand now instead of towards it like he did outside :(

I need feedback on my setup, its all rather improvised since i spent last night drunkenly setting it up, lemme know what im missing or what needs changing!

AND BE NICE NOW<3 i brought him inside so you better all stop being pricks... or ill sick goonie on ya.:p

right at greenwood and queen, and yeah thats my bedroom haha

I didn't look up your previous thread, but from what I see, you have created a very large and dense indoor free range. You might want to place some vines/branches near the UVB light, as well as the heat lamp, (which I would replace with a clear 75-100 watt bulb) JMO.

Summoner (Kevin) used the black gardening hose that "weeps" out the sides as climbing highways for his Mellers, you might be able to use that with plastic ties to your existing supports to reach your UVB and basking spots, or branches.

You may have just saved his life! It was COLD last night ( I think it dipped below 50!)--He would have hated you even more if you left him outside. Your set up looks good-- Just make sure your heat light is emitting enough heat . Veileds like to bask in temps around 90 -- and is that the right uvb lighting? You should pick up a Reptisun uvb 5.0 tube, your cham needs it to produce vitamin D - which aids in the absorption of calcium.

its a zoomed reptisun 2.0 , the guy at the pet store told me to get that, is it appropriate?
i put my flexy vine up will this work or should it not be attacked to the ceiling?
should i change the heat lamp for a regular 100watt incandescent :S?

it was deleted because everyone was flaming my batty crease... whats the advantage of using a 100watt?

I deleted your other thread because of questionable language and words. This is a family site so I ask that everyone remember that and to tone it down a little. Thanks!

I'm glad you brought Goonie in.

fair enough, would you be so kind as to give me any pointers or tips? anything that is wrong with how i set up my setup, weather a zoomed reptisun 2.0 will give him the uvb he needs, how long it will take to get him to learn to use his dripper, any advice at all would be great!
oh shoot, it apparently doesn't put out alot of uvb! and is for "bringing out the colour of your animal" *facepalm*
would he get enough uvb from the natural light he gets from the window or should i go grab him the 5.0

Thanks for deleting the other thread Trace.

And I think telling all of us to quit being "*****" is also not called for. He really could learn a bit better language.

I know there are a lot of people that enjoy forum drama but I'm not one of them so let's drop the behaviour issues.

Goonie; I'm not the free range expert here as I don't do it and never will with my chameleons. I think the ReptiSun 5.0 flourescent tube is a better choice for Veiled Chameleons than the 2.0. There is a big reptile show coming up in Toronto in a few weeks so you should be able to pick up a lot of supplies there for much cheaper than the corner pet store. Until the show happens your 2.0 will be fine particularly if you still bring him outside for a few hours a day or week.

Here is a good Veiled caresheet too:

i have been using that rasing kitty site, but a member of the forums here said one of the plants they suggest using is poisonous!

BTW laurie quick English lesson from the guy who could learn better language...
that word is not offencive or rude its meenings are:

Make a small hole in (something) with a sharp point; pierce slightly
prick the potatoes with a fork
Feel a sensation as though a sharp point were sticking into one
she felt her scalp prick and her palms were damp
(of tears) Cause the sensation of imminent weeping in (a person's eyes)
tears of disappointment were pricking her eyelids
(of a person's eyes) Experience such a sensation
Cause mental or emotional discomfort to
her conscience pricked her as she told the lie

i meant the last one, learn what words actually meen before dismissing them as rude or vulgar.

the 2.0 gives very small amounts of UVB
and certainly not enough for a veiled chameleon

get a 5.0 immedietly and bring some of those branches closer
to the uvb bulb

until then hold him outside to get some natural sunlight
keep the 2.0, it is good for plants and provides full spectrum lighting

The chameleon hates you and now people on the forum hate you.

That's just uncalled for. This person has done what was recommended to them even against their desire.

Things will get better for Goonie, he will just need a week or two to adjust to his environmental change.

You are on the right path though, don't let a few haters keep you from all the valuable info on this website.

@Goonie: I missed the previous post so I am uncertain why everyone is acting the way they are. I just wanted to add that free ranging is the way to go, good for you!

would he get enough uvb from the natural light he gets from the window or should i go grab him the 5.0

If you mean natural light through the OPEN window then he should be fine until it gets too cold to leave the window open.

Yeah dude..Don't get me wrong, this site is very helpful. But your on the right track. Don't let a few people discourage you. I remember I signed up on here 2 months before I got a chameleon, and I almost didn't get one because a lot of people on here were telling me I was buying or using the wrong things. At one point, I got frustrated and returned $250 worth of stuff and gave up. Luckily gf changed my mind, and I ended up getting one and guess what....He's doing fine!!!! When I first got him, of course he would hiss at me, so I just never handled him. He's a little bigger now and doesn't mind climbing on my hand.

Anyone coming on here asking for help usually gets it,but when someone comes on here with an attitude and name calling and using foul language and then trying to explain the meaning of the word, usually gets reprimanded. Did you read the post that was deleted? Thanks for your worthless two cents.

The reason he riled up the forum members was that he was free ranging this young cham OUTSIDE exposed to predators and elements-a far cry from free ranging within the confines of a house.

And please, before you give people English lessons, learn how to spell.
