Normal Colors?

Hey guys,
My Jackson's chameleon (Xander) died last night, so as you can imagine, I'm a little worried that I'm not taking good enough care of my Veiled (Zozo), although he seems to be doing fine.
I'm just not sure about his colors. When he is awake during the day, he is always a greyish color. Then when he falls asleep at night, he's a nice green color.
Is this normal? Or should I be worried?

Hmm... maybe fill out the how to ask for help forum, just to see if anything could be stressing him/making him grumpy. If he is always grey he Might not like something in his cage or may not feel it is "good enough" Chams are harsh critics Does he brighten up if you take him out???

I'll fill out the how to ask for help forum and post it on here.
And I haven't taken him out since I got him just a couple weeks ago. Everyone on here told me to give him space and give him time to get use to me.
