I was feeding our 4 month old Ambilobe earlier today and I've been trying to get a "decent" photo taken inside with Flash catching a cricket. Dang, thats not an easy thing to do.........indoors. I must have took 25 pictures and they were either to blurry, or the lighting wasn't right while using the flash. Here is the best I could come up with today, it was actually just as the cricket was taken inside his mouth.

Let's see yours.............;)

wow! looks at those teeth! he's a cute little boy, bet he's gunna grow up and be super colorful.

lindseymeder16,

Now......that's what I'm talkin' about :D I can't seem to get my "timing" in tune as well as yours is. It seemed I was either to early.........or mostly, to late.

SonTigerPantherCham,

Thank-You for the compliment.........I can see a little more color everytime he "changes his suit"......LOL.......that's what the Grandchildren call it when he sheds. They keep asking........"Pap......when is he gonna change his suit again ?"

okiroo,

Dang........I went back and looked at that picture full sized and I'll be darned if I can see any teeth. It must be an optical illusion caused by the screen in the background. I thought I must have missed something  But........thank-you for the compliment.

snipeusa14,

It was the best out of today's attempts. Lindsey is the one with perfect timing.

Great pic. I know exactly what you mean, I can never really get a decent pic. They always come out blurry, or you can't really distinguish the colors on the cham.

Thank you Anne. :)

Winter Hawk - Haha thank you. What kind of camera are you useing? Usuallly with any camera there will be a motion setting. Put your camera on that and snap the picture right as he's about to shoot, or right after depending on what pic your going for. You should get some nice shots! Also I forgot to mention in my last comment that your guy looks awesome for 4m onths. He's gonna be sweet.

Great pics from you both :).......I've never really tried to get that with a photo, all my eating shots are films, because I'm rubbish with my camera anyway....here's an eating film though - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vU9wM6atm8 He only eats one, don't expect much, lol

Well thank-you very much, for both the compliment and the suggestion. We actually have three digital camera's, an older Sony with a Zeiss lens and two Panasonics with Leica lenses on them......an FZ-30 and a FZ-100. These were taken with the FZ-100. You are correct, they all have a "motion" setting. I'm gonna give that a go in the next couple of days.

I seem to remember that in the thread about "What camera are you using" that you said you were using a Nikon D40......but I could be wrong. I need to get all my notes out from the photography class that my wife and I took in college. The main reason that we took the class was because we had 3 cameras at the time that all had manual settings and we didn't know how to use them that way. Very good class, but I think WE made believers out of all the other students as well as the professor. Everyone but my wife and I had 35 mm cameras at the beginning of the class and by the time the class was over, I'd bet that 90% of them sold their 35mm and bought a digital........even the professor. Digital cameras have came a loooooooooong way since they first came out and I'm not putting down the 35mm shooters. I just enjoy the "instant gratification" that a digital gives you and besides, I like to do my own editing.

Thanks David....:)

I tried the video on the camera's but noticed that the "lighting" sucked even worse when in video mode. I'm gonna play with the camera and some settings on it and see what I can come up with later this week. Cool video, by the way......much better lighting than I can get in mine. I don't have any "adjustments" when in video mode on any of our cameras.

Yes I do use a D40. I love it. I have been takeing a film photography class (where we have to load our own film, process the film, develope negatives etc.) since my freshman year in highschool, so this will be my 3rd year. I shoot both a 35mm and my D40. I have to say I use to think that film photography was stupid until I started it. It's alot more complicated and has made me appreciate how easy digital is. I remember when my dad bought a digital camera in the early 2000's and we compared that cameras pics to my D40's and the difference was crazy!

OMGSH! i was the screen XD haha sorry. well cute non the less. hahahaha

Weird tongue

Ha! didnt realize that their tongues had a mouth on it too LOL. Great shots, I only hope I can do as well with my canon when my little ones come in. And Ya where are their teeth? I know they have some!

Well...........I couldn't wait until "later in the week". Here are a couple of shots that I took with the camera set on "action mode". The colors and detail isn't as good as I like to see..........BUT........I did actually stop the tongue in action. I'll keep working on it..........and a real big KUDOS goes out to Lindsey for the wonderful suggestion.

On the hunt..............

Now WHERE did that little cricket go............

P1010566.jpg

P1010563.jpg

FIRE !!!!!!!!!!!!

P1010562.jpg

Next VICTIM...........check out the blood vessels in his tongue........pretty cool I think

P1010561.jpg

Nice!! The third tongue pic is awesome!! Looks like he was really reaching for the cricket haha.

He is kinda on the "lazy" side........he will sit in one spot and pick everything that is within reach off, then he goes on the "hunt".......heck, he keeps hunting even when there aren't any crickets left in the cage. Thanks again for the suggestion and the compliment on the pics.
