my 2 cents-
If 70 is your room temperature, I wouldn't worry about it. But if you are using some sort of night heat, I wouldn't do that either.
My panthers have upper 90s basking down to low 50 nights sometimes (usually higher night temps, but depends on time of year). Babies have access to this basking temp and are exposed sometimes to low 50s from day 1 and they do great. They are pretty hardy. I only bring them indoors when night temps drop below 50.
It is important to note though that I don't force them to bask in the upper 90s- they are given enclosures with lots of choices from true thermal gradients so they can move to be the exact temperature they crave. Nevertheless, they often move to bask at the warmest part
