I have a few questions… I hope I'm doing this right.
I have a 1 year old Panther Chameleon and where we currently live (just moved) gets VERY cold at night. We have a ceramic heater in the room to help a bit and a 100 w villa black light to help bring up the heat in his cage. However it still gets very cold.. I got a 150w (yes I know that's high). This kept the cage at around 70 at night. Unfortunately the 150w was as bright as a normal bulb through the sides of the bulb! The 100w didn't admit much light at all! I can't use a red bulb since he refuses to sleep with it. They still admit way too much light for him. The black light was perfect, until I needed the 150w… Is this normal for the 150w Zilla black light or will another be dark? Or any suggestions on what I can do to fix the brightness?
Also, anyone know a good vet for a chameleon in the CA East Bay area? I found one who "works with exotics", but it wasn't too comforting when he came into the room and said he hadn't seen one of these before...
Last question, how do you find out what kind of chameleon you have specifically? My vet wanted to know to help me further. All I was told was that it was a Blue Bar Panther Chameleon and that it was captive breed. I will ask the store, but it's been over 6 months so I don't know if they keep track that long.
Please and thank you!
