New Veiled Eating well, but yellow urates

This is the second day that I have had Titus my 5 month old Veiled. He is eating well. He had a huge poop, but the urates were mostly yellow with some white. I am misting him often, 4 times a day. Any suggestions or comments. I'm not too worried at this point because of his appetite. I am hoping that he will drink more soon. Is this normal for newly acquired chameleons.

Just keep misting and dripping and checking poop. :) Sometimes they can get a bit dehydrated during shipping.

when i got my little guy, his urates were bright orange, give it a couple more days it will turn white soon, he just needs to get used the the new environment :)

ditto
Its not uncommon for shipping to dehydrate them some. The next couple poops will be more informative as to whether you are providing enough water.

Thanks for the information. I have been misting and using the dripper. His poop today was good, except still yellow/orange color urates. I'm thinking that he'll snap out of this soon, after all drinking is a god given instinct.

Just keep an eye on the poop. Sadly, this is not an animal that will automatically drink just because it's thirsty and there's water around, so keep misting, keep a dripper going and don't hover overly. Some won't drink in front of you.

Thanks Elizadolots, I will continue to do what you have said and will definately not hover. My son did see him licking his lips yesterday.

If you see him licking his lips, keep spraying him until he stops. Use hot water in your hand mister. Sometimes mine take a full minute or so before they figure out whats going on and then start drinking. I also mist first to get them going and then start the drippers immediately after.
