Hi

I've recently taken on 2 chameleons. One male and one female. At present they are in the same vivarium. I have read conflicting things about being able to keep males and females together and wondered if anyone could help. I was also wondering how big either in weight or length should they be if they are 3 months old? Just roughly? Thanks in advance!

males and females need to be seperated unless they are babies. If you could post some pics, we should be able to give you an estimate on how old they are.

It helps to know what kind they are.
and males and females should be never housed together unless its pygmies.

I've tried to link a pic but not sure if it will work as I'm just on my phone. If not I will upload pics tmz on computer. They just seem very small. They are Yemen/ veiled chameleons sorry forgot to say.

What age do you think they are? I've been told different things. The person I got them from said they are 3 months old and the guy from the local reptile shop said they are 2 weeks old? I'm just a little bit worried about the them plus being male and female. Thanks

pair

Welcome, they do look under three months,if they are male n female they will be fine for a few months ,I had a pair of veiled together for five months ,the male should have a lil spur behind each hind leg.just make sure u get a cage that has three sides of it made of screen.make sure the heat lamp is not to close to their heads so they don't get burned.good luck.u are in the right place for advice.this forum helps me

Ok thats great thanks! Its nice to know that if I have any worries or anything to ask I can ask people that know what they are talking about!

The smallest only measures 10cm (3.9 inches) and looks really small someone had said it was 2 weeks old so I was a bit worried. They are both eating well and pooing and moving around fine though.

I was wondering if there were any minerals I had to give them? I know they need calcium dusted on their crickets but is there anything else?

Thanks! :)

:D Thank you for that! I was worried and thanks for all the info. I just want the best for them both.

We already have a leopard gecko and love him to bits but we have always wanted chameleons so when the chance came we couldnt say no. I am a bit worried that this will just be the start of our little collection  x

That's what everyone says when they first get a Chameleon........beware of addiction :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JmcA...mLyLhopw&lf=mh_lolz&playnext=1&shuffle=276296

Are your Chams brother and sister or unrelated? Either way they should be separated around 4 months I'd say.......sooner if you notice any signs at all of aggression.
