Hey everybody! the time has come for me to get my first baby panther chameleon, I have had many panther chams in the past and still have a bunch now but have never had one thats younger than 8 months old. I am looking to get a 2.5 month old baby and was wondering what a good screen cage is to start him out with and how long before I need to upgrade it to a bigger cage. Let me know what everyones opinion is I have heard a few different opinions and would like to make a final decision

The cage I used for my baby panther was an 18"x12"x20", and it worked great. I kept him in it until he was about 10 inches long, and about 8 month old. Or the cheaper option is to buy an 2'x2'x4' and partition the inside to the appropriate size.

I'd like to think there isn't really a set age to move him or her, I judge based off of size. Once he or she is about 9-10 inches, he or she should be ready.

I've never had a problem keeping babies in a 16x16x30 for a year or so then upgrading. I always use a plastic shoebox tub for their food though. Lets them hunt, but is contained enough that they can always find the food.

I keep my young ones in an 16x16x20 I believe it is sized "Reptibreeze" screen cage. I move them in to there 18x18x36 when there larger sized about 6mo olf or so and I feel comfortable that they can handle the larger cage and hunt for there food. It all really goes by opinion and when the cham hits his spurt as to when you need to upgrade cages!
