hello forum i need help washing my new plant that i bought at lowes do i just wash it off with warm water really good or not thxs

I was told to to take a bucket of soapy water and dunk the plant upside in the bucket and let is set for about 5 minutes to wash off any pesticides or whatever and then rinse it really really good after that. Also, it is suggested to dig out the soil about 3-4 inches down that it comes in and repot with a small bag of "Super Soil". I got mine at a nursery. i would assume Home Depot sells it. You have to be careful that the plant's soil does not have fertilizers sitting on the top that the cham might injest.

alright thxs i'm going to do that right thxs...

you can get away with soapy water for some plants, but some are just too bushy to do this with. what i do is just have them sprayed in the shower for a good 5 minutes, you should ask lowe's what the if and what they spray with. and if further information is available, see what their supplier sprays them with. i only rinse mine in the shower, because where i live, is a tropical plant garden that sells tons of tropicals all year round, the re-pot their own plants and spray them with a sunlight dishsoap and water mix to keep bugs off. i still take them home wash them and re pot them.

some keepers use organic soil, but i personally dont care what it is, im not much of green thumbs and fingers, but fertilizer and such would help the plant more, just leave about an inch 1/4 from the top of the pot and cover the soil with a layer of substrate and river rocks

dont rinse or use warm water, its like lettuce and the leaves will wilt if exposed too long
