New chameleon white on casque after shed

I just purchased a baby veiled chameleon from petco. She was very under weight when I got her a week ago so I'm trying to get her to a healthy weight but she had a shed and now has a large dry looking white spot on her casque. It's been 2-3 days.

She's in a 2x2x4 reptibreeze. T5 5.0 uvb. Basking temp 75-80°. Humidity 30-50 during the day and 80-90 at night with twice daily misting via mistking.

2 silk vines, 2 hibiscus bushes, 1 hibiscus tree, 2 pathos, 1 rubber tree in her enclosure.

Did she shed the top of the casque or just her body? You will want to remove all fake plants from the cage. These can not be placed on the inside because veileds eat their plants.

Can you post a pic of the entire cage with lights on top so I can see how close she can get to her lights on top?

It was a whole body shed. I thought it was stuck shed at first but it appears to be her color not shed.

The basking branch is about 6 inches below uvb. I had to go back and measure because it looked too close to me. The heat is further, maybe 8ish inches. Heat is a 50w lucky herp brand. Uvb is Reptisun T5 Ho Terrarium hood 24 inch with a 5.0 bulb.

Ok so your wanting more like 10 inches with a heat bulb... While you might be getting the right temps further down at the branch the casque and spine is getting much hotter temps. These areas on a veiled are high risk for thermal burns. The bulb your using is a focused heat bulb too so the temp is going to be more intense. You want to lift that fixture up off the cage.

Now with the T5HO and 5.0 bulb. These are the correct ones to use... But you want 8-9 inches to the basking branch below it for the right UVI level. 6 inches is going to put her into overexposure levels.

You will want to add in some horizontal branches at the correct distance for UVB. When they are angled everywhere then the cham is going to go as high as possible just out of a feeling of safety.

I highly recommend this husbandry program. https://chameleonacademy.com/chameleon-husbandry-program-getting-started-with-chameleons/

Try to get some closer pics tomorrow and lets see what that area is doing... But I have a feeling she burned the top of the casque based on what I am seeing.

I'm still learning so I appreciate the help, truly! Is this looking better?

Much better, double check your distances as well.

You can look into either dragon ledges or getting lattice and cutting it to size for your back and two side panels... Then secure the lattice inside the cage to the screen. Then all your branches can be attached to the lattice with zip ties. :) This will get rid of all the fishing line stuff your using to try to get your stuff hanging right.

@MissSkittles don't you have a pic of one of your cages you had with lattice?

I plan to get a full dragon strand enclosure in the near future but I'm intrigued by the lattice solution and would love to see some pictures!
Here are a few links I found. I like the plastic lattice... easier to clean and the plastic does not break down. Also with the wood lattice you do not know if it was treated with anything that could harm the cham.

No, I’ve never used lattice. I’ve created little scaffolds by attaching branches to the frame corners. Not strong enough for plants, but great for hanging branches. This was done for a smaller enclosure for a baby cham.

She seems to be improving! Thanks for the tips! Any guesses on age?

Hard to get a clear picture but it's a little white peeling off like a shed with bright green now
