New chameleon owner

Hello i just got a veiled chameleon from a buddy of mine that has had her for almost 2 years. He didn't have a misting or drip system for her and i don't think he was giving her any supplements. I was told that she looks dehydrated because of her sunken eyes and after looking at pics of them, it seems that way also. I increased misting her cage to about 10 times a day and also added a drip systems last night. I also added a humidifier next to her cage to help increase the humidity. It is at 65 right now. They also told me that she didn't like to come out of the cage and be handle but i was able to get her out and even got her to drink water out of the dripper form my hand. Any or help would be great. She is a beautiful girl!

I have to agree that she looks dehydrated, though it sounds like you have that under control. It also looks to me that there may be some MBD (though I can't be positive). Her front leg is fairly deformed and almost looks swollen. Make sure you are giving her a balanced diet of various well gut loaded and dusted insects, and give her good UVB lighting and she will do well. The effects of MBD cannot not be completely reversed, but with proper care she will live a long and happy life.

Welcome to the forums and congrat on your new chameleon! I recommend a dripper and misting fewer times but longer each time. A vet check up is always a good idea for any new pet. I'm on my phone at the moment but will go back and take a better look at your pictures tonight.

Not trying to say your a bad owner just wondering if he or she had MBD Before because i noticed she/he is not gripping right and the arm looks a liitle strange but im just wondering i could be wrong and i hope i am!

i have only had her for 2 days. I am giving her calcium on her food but i dont think the person who had her before was.

update- i talked to the original owner and she isnt almost 2 she is almost 1 her bday was in jan 2013. He also said she was given calcium. Last night i got to see her eat some mealworms. pretty cool watching her tongue.

Some good feedings lots of water and misting for sure ! a hot enough heat lamp and proper uvb light .... also feel your crickets carrots ,bug burger , HEALTHY STUFF and dust them lightly with calcium plus 4 x a week and she should be back to normal in about 3 weeks ! I have a veiled female that was almost in the same situation ...she had a eye that wouldn't open they were sunken in , she was in a tiny cage with a 25 watt bulb no uvb and no supplements. with proper care they bounce back quickly !!! good luck shes a beautiful girl!!
