I adopted a juvenile jackson three days ago. He is still acting a little stressed and I have not observed him eating. He is exploring and alert but still is dark colored. At what point should I worry about him seeming stressed? How long does it take to settle into a new home?

There is no set time really, but by about a week or maybe a little longer he should start feeling at home. I remember one member on here whose chameleon was dark for like three weeks before he started to settle in. I wouldn't worry too much just yet. Three days is not very long.

It depends on the chameleons character. Every animal is different. My veiled needed 1 hour to get used to the new place and i often take him out so he can get sun and he has no problem dealing with new places, but he has hard time with me he doesnt like me a lot.
Just give him some time he will get used to the new place eventually

I would say for a juvenile about a week and then I would get worried. The adults can go for many weeks without eating. I took in a rescue and he did not eat for 11 days and then began eating like a pig. Hopefully in the next few days he will eat for you. It is good he is atleast drinking.

Good news! He started eating this morning. After eating he lost his stress colors and is a beautiful green. Thanks again for your help and reassurances!
