How are his urates looking? Often times they might not drink water in view of us but be hydrated just fine.

Welcome to the forums! Please fill out this form with detail.. try not to skip anything! Include lots of pictures of your chameleon, too. Does he always just keep his mouth open like that?

Chameleon Info:
  • Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care?
  • Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon?
  • Feeding - What are you feeding your cham? What amount? What is the schedule? How are you gut-loading your feeders?
  • Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with and what is the schedule?
  • Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? How often and how long to you mist? Do you see your chameleon drinking?
  • Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings. Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites?
  • History - Any previous information about your cham that might be useful to others when trying to help you.

Cage Info:
  • Cage Type - Describe your cage (Glass, Screen, Combo?) What are the dimensions?
  • Lighting - What brand, model, and types of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule?
  • Temperature - What temp range have you created (cage floor to basking spot)? Lowest overnight temp? How do you measure these temps?
  • Humidity - What are your humidity levels? How are you creating and maintaining these levels? What do you use to measure humidity?
  • Plants - Are you using live plants? If so, what kind?
  • Placement - Where is your cage located? Is it near any fans, air vents, or high traffic areas? At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor?
  • Location - Where are you geographically located?

Current Problem - The current problem you are concerned about.

I had a hard time maintaining humidity and ambient temps. I added this film to 2 sides of my reptibreeze and it helped a lot.

Do not try to keep handling him, you are probably stressing him out. It's ok to expose your hand to him so he knows it's not a predator but dont try to force him out.

I'm feeding him super worms crickets n horn worms right now feed him once a day I put 2 horn worms like 3 crickets n 5 super worms I leave them in the am n let him eat thru out the day I give cricket carrots n food I bought from dealer who sold to me I also dust them all in the calcium without de n also dust with vitamins once a wk I have a plant dripper a reg dripper n mist machine monsoon 400 I have the temp of bottom it's about 65 to 70 so I'm figuring top is 80 to 90 humidity is a prob when misting it can get to 60 after it goes to 30 35 going to get live plants looking for some now no I have not seen him drink yet I got a screen repti breeze cage the med got 2 heating lamps going with the t5 arcadia 22in 6.0 uvb I live in a studio so hes near lots of traffic prob is I believe he may be a lil dehydrated

I would lay off the superworms and only offer them as a treat. If hydration is a concern, offer him some hornworms or silkworms.

left and right sides, back and front I did not apply it to. If you do both sides and still have an issue with humidity/ambient, you can then apply it to the back. I would avoid applying on all sides since you will lose air flow and it will likely get too warm/humid.

If you do it to all sides, and the front door (big part not small)

You have effectively created a "Glass" vivarium. Which has plenty of airflow, and will hold much better humidity.

It will also retain heat better, so you will have to likely change bulb sizes or dim it, to adjust for the heat retention.

I'm not sold on reducing airflow. Glass Vivariums I would argue have more airflow. Depending on your house, ect. If you follow recommendations to avoid having your cage by a draft, there is very little air movement around your cage.

Glass cages, use the principal of the "Chimney Effect" hot air rises, as it weighs less. Since you have a basking area, this ensures the top most air of the Vivarium is hotter, and is pulled out through the screen top.

When this happens it's creates a vacuum that sucks airs out of the front bottom vent (your small door, on the Vivarium.) This is active, forced airflow, something that a Screen cage doesn't posses to the the same degree. However it's fully open, so room air movement becomes a factor, as said.

I would really like to run some tests on this, room Air Movement, Vs glass cage Movement, vs Screen cage movement.

That's why I figured just 2 sides cause all 4 make it a glass cage one thing I did think k about was all 4 sides half way maybe closing it up a lil but still open on top
