My Xeno poor baby is sick here is an ok photo

Not to be rude or anything, but i haven't heard any stories of someones cham being blinded by these lights. I'm pretty sure the zoo med ones have been cleared.

Do a search. You will find a ton of them. I would never use a CFL unless I was 100% it was putting out the proper UV rays.

When I went to the vet with all the info they gave me some evil eye ointment and it made his eyes shut.

Same here, what is the name of the ointment they gave you? The one I was using is Vetropolycin and it seems to only make it worse and now she wont even open the eye that she could.

I would like to see a case of chameleon blindness from these light. All I have seen is people talking about it not the chameleons being blinded themselves.

Why was this moved...I did not ask for it to be moved, I did not ask for help, I know what I am doing even though you seem to think I am not. I trust the breeders I know because I know them in person, and not on a forum. I understand you are trying to help me. But I take this into offense that you think I don't know what I am doing.

I know I said poor baby is sick but that doesn't mean I am not taking care of him. He has been to the vet, and been to breeders I trust. I am taking care of him. He is being treated to be healed. He is in recovery and he is getting better rapidly. I was showing a picture just to show you my baby. I am not trying to be rude at all but read more carefully and ask resonable questions. I adopted him sick so I could heal and cure him to live a true full life.

I maybe wrong but I think justjumpit's little girl has eye problems and infections from improper UVB... Correct me if I'm wrong please! :)

Are you saying you refuse to switch out the light?

I did not say that.

and Could the eye problem be from improper vitamins and other lighting issues and the ointment that the vet gave me shut his eyes in the first place i used it properly exactly as he did. His eyes were open and had proper movement before i took him to the vet. Now they move around but wont open all the way. I switched the bulb to the compact flourescent less than a week ago. There is no reason to say the bulb is the cause if the problem occured before i even got the bulb.

How about this for your proof  This happened after I bought an R-zilla compact florescent hood and bulbs. Turns out they were still selling the dangerous recalled ones.

Yes it is. Have you ever looked into a compact bulb and a linear tube bulb at the same time while they were on? The compact bulb is much brighter. Ever wonder why your parents told you to not look directly into the sun...

Many brands also had a problem with giving off UVC, which is detrimental to all reptiles, and probably all other animals.

No I had no idea that some UVB lights were bad. This was a while ago and I had just started out.

It has been 4 months without the compact and Molly is still unable to see, I fear the damage is permanent.

I'm sorry to hear that, But i've had chams before. I was recently told that the zoo med compact flourescent was ok to use from breeders i know. they personally use them and they havent had problems

Yes? I recently found out about zoo med.

I have had many different uvb bulbs why is everyone on this forum attacking me to give me advice

as i said previously

He is recovering fine

I was just showing everyone a picture of him...

Chameron-We see it over and over again where people refuse to listen to sound advice and end up with a dead chameleon. Your information is a bit contradictory and people are picking up on that. We only want to help you and your cham, and yes people go into attack mode when people refuse to listen until it is too late. Better safe than sorry. Kill the current bulb. Buy a Zoomed Reptisun 5.0 linear tube.

If you hav enot heard anything-you have not been on this forum long. It comes up almost daily. As recently stated, some manufacturers are putting out new product that is supposed to be safer, but it is often difficult to tell which ones are OK and which ones are not. Bottom line-there IS proof that these bulbs have caused blindness, eye issues, and death.

Agreed........haha

People are on here to give advice to other people. When someone posts something about a sick chameleon, the people on here want to share everything they know to try and get that chameleon to feeling better. I don't think we are attacking you, we are just taking the information that we were given and trying to help your situation. In no way does giving advice mean that we don't think you are taking good care of your cham. Obviously you are taking him to the vet and know successful keepers. We are just trying to share information that works for the majority of people here. And no offense, but when anyone starts a thread about a sick chameleon, no matter how experienced they are, people are going to offer their advice to try and help the chameleon-not to try and tell the owner they are caring for their chameleon improperly. We are just trying to help.

You posted your picture in the Health Clinic forum, unless someone moved it here. This forum is where people ask for advice about health issues. That's why people are giving you advice.

Damn ! I read xeno and hope so much that this is a thread about Kinyongia xenorhina and what's the result: another calyptratus thread
