My Veiled's legs are fat

Luie's legs look fatter than most pics of veileds that I see on here. Could there be a problem? I read something on here one time about gout making their legs big????? I know; I'm a worry wart but let me know what you guys think. Jann

ive heard of limb swelling because of over-supplementation. im not sure if that is correct, but ill try to find some info for you.

i also have just found that edema may cause swelling. if its just fat, than maybe cut down on his diet. idk. if the pic was bigger, i could see if it is swollen or just fat.

I agree with Chad.
He looks healthy!
What's his feeding schedule? I know you are providing a good diet.

Kitty looks chunky in the legs and tail too. He eats only (and I repeat ... ONLY)
superworms.
I do my best to gut load them and dust with calcium at nearly every feeding.
He WILL NOT eat anything else.

I would agree with chad and brad also. IT doesnt look like gout to me but then again I have only seen one case that was maybe gout and in pics:eek: My vet wasnt up to date with chams even though he used to keep them. I had my first cham put to sleep before any further testing because he went down hill fast and was not very mobile. One thing that is noticable is lumps in the feet. It may look like the knuckles are bigger than normal also it seems that they are lumpy around the joints in the knees.

DONT WORRY SO MUCH!!!:D:p

Luie looks GREAT! I always enjoy seeing his pics.

Luie's a cricket man but he'll eat silkworms, hornworms and supers. Rarely can I get him to eat dubia or fruits and vegies. I feed him everyother day about 6 feeders. I dust everyother time that I feed. It's nice to see that Kitty has a little fat, too. Thanks! Jann

Thanks Cain! I just worry that something will happen to mine after seeing all the stuff that can happen here. I'll check his feet good tomorrow and next time I go to see their vet I'll ask his opinion. Jann

Poor Luie-you didn't tell him his legs looked fat did you? :)
Cage life and a lack of exercise and well gut-loaded abundant bugs will do that to a lizard!

Leon has thin legs doesn't he? Luie and Camille look allot like Leon and Carla, I looked at their pics in your Black Fri. sale. Luie's Free Range but rarely get out of his tree any more. Maybe I need to cut back a tad on the food?

Leon has long legs! But they are not all that thin! Leon is also a very active Chameleon-cruising the cage or coming out to cruise the house. Did you get Luie from Mike?

I'm gunna have to go ahead and say he is one of the most healthy looking veileds on the forum...imo his legs dont look suspect of anything but a lil tlc...

Actually, Luie came from PetSmart. Lizbeth got really mad at me but he was so cute and pet store animals need a good home too. Camille came from a board member that bought her from FL Chams.

Jan, here is an example of what gout looked like:

So, yes, i believe your cham is quite healthy!

Thank you so much. So gout is not just fat or big legs.......it's more like bumps? I started geeting worried when I looks at the Necropsy pics of the gout that Dave Weldon posted. Then I started looking at veil pics and worried that Luie's legs were bigger than most other veils. I sure feel better now that other members think he looks normal. Thanks everyone! Jann
