This is my first chameleon and he's like my baby I'm just worried. Help.

What type of cage do you have?

What are the temps inside the cage? is he under the basking light when he is doing this?

I've seen Jake do this once, but it was only for a short bit. I was wondering what it meant as well.

When chameleons overheat, they don't always just move away from their basking spot.

Similar to a dog panting, they will open their mouths to regulate their body temperatures.

my jacksons chameleon does this too should it be somethin i should be worried about?

Well in a way yes you should worry. If he does in under his basking spot only then it means he is too hot. What are your temps? Jackson's like it cooler than a veiled. But if he does it all the time it could be a sign of a respiritory infection.

Thank you all since yesterday day I have moved lights up and got a better thermometer he now is a lot greener when basking and seems happier and has not opened mouth yet. It was definitely the temp. Thank you all! I will keep you all posted on situation.
