My newly found chameleon sleeping habit

Hello everybody, around a week ago I found my veiled chameleon I lost 8 months ago. Yes he is fine and healthy(I made a post in the health section). Day starts to get dark at around 5:30 so he is used to sleeping at that time even though my lights turn off at 10. I don't know if this Is a habit he got from living outside but everyday when he wants to go to sleep he climbs down his cage to a corner on the ground and sleeps. He has been doing this since I found him... Should I let him continue this or should moving him to a branch everynight? Thoughts?

I would adjust your lighting patterns around his needs at the moment. Then, I would slowly start acclimating him to the timeline preferred. I would just get a timer and set it from your natural time of sun rise in California and let it cut off at 5:30. Then I would slowly start altering the cut off time by ten minutes or so. Let it stay that way for a couple of days and then do it again. Chameleons are such creatures of habit and it can take a while to adjust what they feel is the norm.

Plus I would make sure your lighting patterns are fitting his needs at the moment to keep him off the ground.
