Yes,i understand ur point of view@Blang,there is always a reason behind it,me and u wouldn't know that,i think the choice will be his to make,cause we can not forcing anyone to do thing they dont want to do,and Im glad u are a good person trying to help,but sometimes,we just to have to leave it be until they realize on their own,it could be a hard price to pay(life of the cham),we can only help but not force my friend

In my opinion each type of animal he has, needs its own separate enclosure! And the needs for that animal! Frogs! Chameleon!
A screen cage & the right lighting for the chameleon! Dripper, misting system & plants! Get him away from all the stress & competition of the other tank inhabitants! & then deal with what's living in the water! Over the years ive kept & bred! Freshwater fish, including discus & angelfish, African chichlids all kinds, bred and handfed baby macaws, cockatoos & African grey parrots! Other animals include gila monsters, red ackies=bred & incubated & hatched eggs! Bred bearded dragons & sold babies wholesale! Now I have 16 chameleons, & a breeding pair of hawkhead parrots! Plus I've had saltwater aquarium fish!!! So at 63 I have a little knowledge of what's going on with different animal types & husbandry needs! I do my own fecals on my chams & have all if not most of the meds to treat them! 2.3 ankaramy, 1.2 nosy be, 2.4 bb ambilobe & 1.1 calumma O'Shaughnessy!
Lol,that is a zoo in there,thank you very much for sharing your experience with us,now if I want to go to a zoo,I will have to ask for your permission,cause I hate waiting on line just to go see some animal..I be knock on ur door and I will bring some ur favorite food just to bribe u and let me inyou Rock Blang!!!!
you Rock Blang!!!!Good ,try to set the frogs back up and running,so when I get there,I would like to hear some frogs singing while you show me all your collections,I will also bring my pink ear slider turtle(he supposed to be a red ear),so you can show me how to exam his fecals.
I would like to thank everyone for their input.I will take corrective action as soon as I can. I have had everything/everyone in there for about 2 months without a problem. Nobody has shown signs of stress or dominance. The chameleon has not tried to hiss, or attack any of the other reptiles I have with him. I do appreciate every piece of input that has been provided (except the people who have been complete assholes in the situation, thanks for trying to help in the worst way possible, much appreciated). I will take care of the housing situation and get the chameleon his own enclosure.
Also, I scrub and clean the tank completely about every 2 days, so that keeps the bacteria levels down to almost nothing. When I take the screen top off, nobody tries to escape. When they *cuddle* its mainly at night, when I have the temp lower and the basking light is off. They do not really *cuddle* in the corner, but more of in the middle of the tank. I have never been bit or hissed at by any of the reptiles in the enclosure. But as I said, I will take expert advice and fix the situation

Wow! Congrats on keeping everything alive for two months! I got 1 fire belly toad when I was younger and he killed everything in my terrarium in a week the water became poisonous, I had no idea. Good to hear your separating species it's for the best. Good luck.

It has no choice but to drink for still water, but that doesnt mean it good for them. When you are dying of thirst i guess anyone or any animal will drink from just about anything. You would eat and dead carcass if you were locked up in a prison with no food or water

I'm really happy you are willing to hear our advise! Although I don't think it's enough to just separate the chameleon. Each of the species need its own enclosure to stay healthy, much because the water is toxic to them.
Stress isn't always obvious either. If you chameleon would hiss he would just be mad and he might start to do so in the future since veilds are very protective of their territory when they reach sexual maturity. My guess the "cuddles" is a quiet battle for dominance. If your reptile is on the highest branch or grabbing the other animal as shown in the picture its a sign of dominance. Chameleons have very sharp claws and a strong grip and it might as well hurt the animal below that wont move simply because of stress for the animal of higher dominance. Reptiles are not as easy to read as for example, dogs. They do not work in the same way and are not social creature due to their social underdeveloped brain.

In that pic u can def see the dominating Cham forget all the animals for a sec the bottom line is that it is a way to small of an enclosure for a vield it needs a much bigger space

You've gotten solid, experienced advise and you basically dismiss all of it. People have been trying to help you because they feel bad for your reptiles. If you have taken action to correct the improper husbandry you were practicing I apologise. Use this forum as a resource and learn all you can about chameleons. Good luck
