Hey all.

I have had this guy for about 8 or 9 months now and someone else had him for a couple months too so he is doing well and adjusted well in captivity.

Out of all the time that I have had him, this is the first time I am posting his own thread
I really like working with these guys because they are a nice size, dont eat as much as Veileds and seem to be very chilled.

Unfortunetly I only have him, I am hoping to get a whole group of them coming, then he will have some chicks!
They are extremely rare in South Africa, I know more people with Parsonii and parsonii eggs than I do of people with a single jacksons chameleon.
This guy cost me around $500.

Not easy to get good shots of him

Does he look healthy and all good to you guys?^

What do you mean you can't get good pictures of him? He looks wonderful in those pictures. He is such a jewel it would be nice to get him a couple of female friends. I still can't imagine how tiny those babies would be. let us know if you get your others, hope it works out for you & him.;)

Wow what a nice cham. Love the blues and yellow at the base of horns. Looks healthy to me, and horns look good and straight

I ENVY YOU!!!!! I so wish I could get some Merus. I will eventually, but I just gotta take it one step at a time. Sucks 'cause you never know when something might get banned. Montanes are my favorite group of chameleons. He is really nice looking man.

Thanks Laurie, cant get enough of these jacksons...I havnt got a clue how old he is though...and dont know their average life span, hope he doesnt die of old age without seeing a female!

If it all pulls through I should have 3 or 4 females and a few extra males, and possibly a pair or 2 of deremensis chams.

I hear that the U.S doesnt really have too many meru's...if a ban does pop up and I managed to get mine before it then I can work on exporting some groups to the U.S, if it is actually worth it in the end.

And thanks everyone else for the compliments of him :D

When people post pictures of these awesome chams, it makes me wonder if I chose the right species lol.

He looks very cool, love the coloring!

Great chameleon! I have a pair of Mt. Kenyan jacksons (jacksonii jacksonii) who just had babies a month ago (13 of them!). Very similar in size I think to yours, very cool chameleons, and very very hard to find as well. I wish you luck finding some more of the Mt. Merus for a breeding program... as with the Mt. Kenyans, it would be nice if there were more CBB available. Posted some pics of mine for those interested as well.

no way I want mt kenyan jacksons if you have two females ever available let me know please. and why did you pay 500 :eek:for him what type of jackson did you get???

chameleonneeds. You NEED to go get me a male and send it my way. :p

This is one of my favorite species of Chameleons, especially out of the Jacksonii's.

He looks so stunning, especially with those light greens and nice blues.

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks all for the comments. I will definetely have pics up the new ones that arrive.
They cost me 500 because that is how much they are worth here...everyone loves chams here and our law keeps the prices high so you pay around that much for most of the good stuff in this country...

I know I can make a lot more selling them here...but I will try start a project to get as many generations as I can...if it does end up being worth it I will export quite a few over...that's if they are still rare then and if anyone would like to import a group of them

Well these jacksons are really great...I prefer them over veileds but I also own panthers...I have panther chameleons but I am thinking of selling all of them to make way for the new jacksons and possibly deremensis :)

Thanks! She had 17 babies in total, I lost 1 about a half hour after birth and 3 others when they were very young as well. The others are all going strong - very active, eating, drinking and growing like crazy.
